House Saint-Algis (02)

AISNE SAINT-ALGIS Old mill with pond on land of 4542m2 Lots of history for this original place nestled in the heart of the Thiérachian countryside. In fact, you have to go back to the 13th century to know the long history of this place. Originally, it was a farm which was transformed into a grain mill in the 17th century when it was part of the lands of the Marquis de Condorcet. Moreover, all the flour producing machines are still present, in their original place and in an exceptional state of conservation. At the back of this mechanism, we find a cellar dating from the 18th century with great qualities of freshness thanks to its walls built of bricks and flint typical of the region. Built on a plot of 4542 m2 not overlooked and with a superb open view, there is a pond/basin used to collect water from the stream. This water which arrives in the hydrolic system, currently a turbine, could make it possible to produce electricity in complete autonomy. A few decades ago, work was undertaken to enable the main building to accommodate comfortable accommodation. On the ground floor of this, you enter a large living/dining room of 46m2 with a pretty wood stove. A large bedroom with cupboards. A hallway (work to be planned) leads to a second bedroom with cupboards, a bathroom (some work to be planned), separate toilets, and a large kitchen of 16 m2 partially equipped, with a pellet stove, built in above the stream. Upstairs, we discover two bedrooms of impressive dimensions and with an exposed framework which adds all the charm to the level. There are also separate toilets, a room with an electric water heater and the possibility of creating a bathroom (existing water supplies). Numerous and vast outbuildings will allow you to imagine the most beautiful projects for this place. It is up to you to write a new page for this building steeped in history(s). Double-glazed wooden windows Electric radiators on the ground floor Wood and pellet stove Electric car charging station Individual septic tank (last maintenance in 2023) Not overlooked, unobstructed view Ref: 6026 Price: 239000? fees charged to seller DPE old version. Farmhouse Saint-Quentin (02)

An 18th century former abbey farmhouse set in more than 4 5 hectares in the Thiérache region. The farm estate belonged to the Prémontré Abbey from the 12th century. Destroyed by fire in 1731, it was rebuilt between 1740 and 1780. After leaving the main road, a tarred track of about 1.5 km leads to the entrance of the property. A driveway framed by wooden fences delimiting the pastures leads first to the caretaker’s lodge on the left and then up to the farmhouse. The complex forms an enclosed courtyard accessed via a dovecote-porch set in a building with a barn at right angles facing the sheepfold and the stables. The main residence is situated at the bottom of the courtyard, surrounded by outbuildings used as workshop, garage, boiler room and sports room. A small sand arena is located in the centre of the courtyard, a second one, measuring 40 x 20 metres, can be found at the rear of the barn. The pastures extend over a little more than 4 hectares with a shelter for horses. One meadow has a pond of approx. 1,500 m² fed by a spring.

House Saint-Quentin (02)

A monumental art deco church listed as a historical monument, in France’s Picardy region, two hours from Paris. In the aftermath of the First World War, the clergy found the local church too cramped to host all the district’s churchgoers and too badly damaged by the war to be used. So they decided to build a new church. This project was mainly funded by war compensation for other religious buildings. For the new church, the clergy called upon the architect Narcisse Laurent, who handed over his monumental work in 1937. The decision was made to build the church on a vast plot of land. A military aerial view taken in November 1918 shows that this plot of land was in the heart of a fighting zone beside a German trench at the gates of the town. At the time, the public saw a powerful symbol in this new construction: a church built on a war trench to heal the wounds of a tragic conflict.

House Saint-Quentin (02)

Just 1h30 from Paris and 15 minutes from Saint-Quentin, this magnificent residence is nestled in the heart of the Oise valley. Locally referred to as 'Le Château', it offers 535 square meters spread over three levels. As you pass through the gate, you will discover an elegant facade, skillfully mixing brick and stone, decorated with pilasters and a balcony. After a flight of steps, this property opens its doors to you! You can admire all the words of bourgeois housing and a mansion: parquet floors, moldings, ceiling height, fireplace, cement tiles? However, reducing this property to these characteristics would be simplistic. What impresses here is the perfect harmony between these architectural elements and a sober, elegant and refined decoration. Every room, every corner has been treated with attention to detail; the renovation left no room for chance, whether in the choice of materials or colors. Let's start the visit! As soon as you enter, you will discover a comfortable, fully double hall, giving direct access to the garden and serving the different living rooms. On the right, there is a large and comfortable living room, as well as a dining room. On the left is a fitted and equipped kitchen. The numerous openings promote fluid circulation and natural light floods each room. On the same level, a discreetly hidden corridor leads to a bedroom on the ground floor, a second, more intimate living room, the scullery and the laundry room. The magnificent staircase takes you to the first floor, where a carefully renovated double landing accommodates an office. The view of the countryside is breathtaking! On either side of this double landing, two corridors lead to a master bedroom with its private bathroom, four other bedrooms, a dressing room and a bathroom. The second level offers a fully furnished and isolated platform, enough to give free rein to your imagination. The garden, ideal for hosting a swimming pool, also offers a games area. And why stop there? A set of outbuildings and a double garage complete the property. A true masterpiece that will appeal to lovers of prestigious primary or secondary residences as well as people looking for a place that can accommodate a guest house and seminar rooms. An old hunting lodge in eight hectares of grounds with a caretaker’s house, a dovecote, a tennis court and outbuildings, 100 kilometres from Paris in the River Ourcq valley. Tall hedges hide the property beside a secondary road. It lies at the edge of a forest, six hectares of which belong to the property. A caretaker’s house stands by the property’s entrance gate. The hunting lodge is lower down, as are the outbuildings and a dovecote, which lies opposite the hunting lodge at the end of a long shady track. Behind the dwelling, there is an orchard and a tennis court. Parkland extends beyond them, covering around two hectares. The forest extends out from the parkland. Castle Coeuvres-et-Valsery (02)

Château de Coeuvres-Valsery - Meeting place of Henri IV and Gabrielle d'Estrées in 1590 - Original and dreamlike Renaissance mannerist castle, built for the Dukes of Estrées in the middle of the 16th century, completed around 1575. Henri IV met Gabrielle d'Estrées there in 1590, the date of the beginning of their romantic and tumultuous affair. 6 hectares. To be completely restored. Villers-Cotterets, Picardy, Aisne, Hauts-de-France. Although it looks like a fortress, it is a pleasure chateau, and more precisely a party castle, given the off-centre plan characterized by an off-centre and small main building, the presence of four imposing pavilions and a possible large gallery disappeared to the south-west. The ambitious Estrées family, which included a French ambassador in Rome, had a festive and worldly reputation, close to the royal family; Coeuvres-Valsery will be erected as a marquisate then as a duchy-peerage for her. Of this ambitious complex built in the second half of the 16th century, close to the royal achievements, there remain only vestiges resulting from the demolitions of the Revolution and the bombardment of 1918 while the restoration initiated at the end of the 19th century had just been completed. finish. The environment, curiously implanted on a swamp confirms a baroque choice, which can find its explanation in the mannerism, current of thought and artistic of the XVIth century having a taste for the strange, the curious, the bizarre, the original; sometimes going to extremes of incongruity and bad taste. Architecture, A square plan, marked by large dry moats spanned by bridges on two sides, confined by slightly projecting square corner pavilions. The architecture is made of beautiful limestone stonework, the walls of the moat are slightly sloped. The most remarkable element is the so-called Henri IV pavilion to the west, square in plan topped with a large four-sided roof, attached to a square stair tower topped with a dome; on the side a low wing. The windows are mullioned and transom, skylights with arched pediment. Beautiful moldings on the facades, windows with bands. Inside this pavilion, a large room adorned with a neo-Renaissance fireplace, black and white floor, ceiling with beams and joists decorated with paintings and crests, low panelling. Two other rooms. A stone spiral staircase. Upstairs, a large room without any decor, two other rooms. A great peak. On the south-east side, a superb cryptoporticus on which the wooden gallery may have stood, it includes a series of vaulted rooms, in particular the large kitchens with their superb stereotomy. Beautiful stone slab floors. A second basement level houses flooded galleries. Remains of the stairway pavilion with two semicircular bays, straight staircase with banister under a semicircular vault. To the North-East, outbuildings, largely rebuilt after the First World War, in the centre, a porch house topped with a four-sided roof, attached to a staircase turret topped with a dome. Inside, a few rare original elements, a stone spiral staircase, a neo-Renaissance fireplace. Nice volume on the first floor of the porch. Character : Gabrielle d'Estrees. Born in Coeuvres-Valsery in 1573, died in Paris in 1599. A woman with a tumultuous life, whose mother was already described as frivolous, the siblings of seven sisters were called 'the seven deadly sins' by Madame de Sévigné, the father saying that Coeuvres-Valsery was 'a hutch for whores'. The family having great social ambitions, it already cumulated important charges and functions, Gabrielle met King Henri IV at Coeuvres-Valsery in 1590, through her lover. The King courted her ardently, returning especially to Coeuvres-Valsery, after six months, she yielded. He wanted to marry her, even going so far as to announce their marriage in public at a party at the Louvre on February 23, 1599; she died shortly after April 10, 1599 while carrying the child she had had with Henry IV, certainly as a result of her pregnancy, although she showed all the signs of poisoning, which for a long time hovered over the doubt about the cause of his death. Henri IV covered the d'Estrées family with titles and offices. Gabrielle's father, Antoine d'Estrées was Governor of Ile de France, her brother François-Annibal, Bishop of Noyon, French Ambassador to Rome, her sister Abbess of Maubuisson. historical origin, - Villiers family - 1552 Purchase by Jean d'Estrées. - 1552-1575 construction work on the current castle. - 1573 Birth of Gabrielle d'Estrées in Coeuvres-Valsery. - 1575 Death of Jean d'Estrées, grandfather of Gabrielle d'Estrées. - 1590 Visit of Henri IV to Coeuvre-Valsery who meets Gabrielle d'Estrées there. - 1739, The degraded castle passes to Le Tellier. - 1793-1795 sale as national property, demolition and fragmentation of the estate - 19th century, purchase by the Berthiers de Sauvigny who carried out major restoration work at the end of the 19th century - 1918 Bombings during the Battle of the Marne. - Around 1920 restoration work in war damage. - 1953 Sale to the town of Madeleine-les-Lille, which set up a summer camp there. - 1974 Conversion into a retirement home.
