Thirty minutes from the airport, twenty minutes from the TGV and the sea, five minutes from the motorway and the shops. Hidden away in an unspoilt rural area, in the heart of a green oasis.
From the main road, an unpaved track leads straight to the house, surrounded by centuries-old trees (plane trees, lime trees, white and green oaks, Arizona cedar). The flat plot of land, covered with flowers in spring and summer, is in an agricultural area and liable to flooding. The river lies about ten metres below the house, and for the last sixty years, the water level has always remained well beneath the level of the house. To the north of the main building, a 14 m x 6 m concrete swimming pool, deep enough to dive into, is located next to a outbuilding with a covered terrace, garage and sanitary facilities. The sunlight shines into the main house through a large number of patio windows, which open onto three terraces, one of which is covered.
The millBuilt in the 19th century, the main house, of about 450m², has kept the original mill wheel and mechanism that were powered by the river running under the building, today under the dining room. The roof, with double Roman tile edges, is steeper on the north than on the south side. A spacious 100m² room under the southern half has the potential to be converted and refurbished. The north-facing area is currently an attic. The south facade has three levels with, from bottom to top, four, five, then three openings, while the north side offers two levels with a total of six openings. The south-western part of the building consists of a terrace with access to a bedroom facing north-west. All the windows are small paned.
Ground floor
The entrance hall, with a height of 5.50m and access to the stairs, faces north. To the west, there is a separate toilet followed by the master suite with its solid wooden ceiling, a bathroom with toilet and a wardrobe. A French window opens onto the terrace facing south-west. Opposite the entrance hall, the spacious 80 m² living and dining room features a stone fireplace with a cosy sitting area three steps below the level of the rest of the room. The cellar is situated under the dining room. It can be accessed via a trap door and leads to the original mill wheel. Three French windows open onto the terraces. On the east side, the kitchen with adjoining larder and boiler room opens onto a terrace with a tiled, traditional wood-framed roof overlooking the river. From here one can hear the murmur of the water. There are exposed beams throughout and the interior floors, as well as those of the open terraces, feature terracotta tiles. The covered terrace is also paved with rectangular terracotta tiles.
First floor
A wide terracotta-tiled staircase with wooden stair nosing leads from the entrance to the first floor. The west wing comprises a small room, en suite with a bedroom and its bathroom with toilet. In this part, the floors are paved with red hexagonal terracotta tiles, whereas the rest of the floor is paved with square terracotta tiles. The east side offers a bedroom with shower room and an independent toilet. Towards the south, a large corridor leads to a bathroom also accessible from the bedroom, a shower room and two bedrooms. On this floor, the beams are either visible or hidden behind plasterboard.
Second floor
A flight of wooden steps leads to a large area of about 97 m² with five windows and high ceilings. It is divided into two parts and equipped with a sink.
