In the north of the Anjou region, in the midst of more than 5 ha of parklands, a 19th century chateau and its outbuildings.
A river runs through the surrounding wooded, undulating countryside. This property is 1.5 km from a village with a few shops as well as amenities and 10 km from a small town with all shops and amenities, including a hospital. This town also has a train station on the French fast train line, providing 70-minute links to Paris. The A11 motorway is some 11 km away. There is also a golf course about 10 km away.
A country lane leads to the property's entrance gates, opening on to a long driveway, lined with trees, some of which are plane trees. It initially crosses grasslands and then parklands, before leading to a courtyard laid out in front of the outbuilding and the chateau. This driveway can also be reached from a second gateway, off another road. The courtyard is laid out in a circle around the chateau.
The chateauThis chateau, constructed in 1868, spans three levels under an attic floor. It is topped with a slate roof, featuring roof dormers crowned with vase and flame-urn finials. An octagonal stairway tower adjoins one of the facades. The latter feature a freestone and brick composite decor. Freestone has also been used for framing the openings, the cornices and the roof dormers. The quoins are alternately made of brick and freestone.
This level comprises an old kitchen, a boiler room with a linen room and two other rooms. It is reached from the ground floor via the stairway. The kitchen and one of the two rooms open directly on to the outside. The kitchen floor is paved with diamond-shaped red and white tiles. Its vaulted ceiling is made of brick.
A stone porch leads to the front door which opens into a vestibule providing access to a toilet, an oak wood, quarter turning stairway with wrought iron railings, a kitchen and a dining room. Both the last two rooms connect directly with the lounge. The vestibule has white stone floor tiles with red inlaid decoration whilst the parquet flooring in the lounge and dining room is laid in a herringbone pattern. Both these rooms have panelling, ceiling moulding and a fireplace, made of white marble with jambs ending in lions' claws in the dining room and red marble in the lounge.
The landing room provides access to a toilet, a bedroom with its shower room and a hall area. The bedroom has a French window opening on to a balcony, dominating the parklands. The shower room can also be reached via the hall area. The latter leads to two bedrooms and a bathroom. There is parquet flooring throughout this level. It is laid in a herringbone pattern in the landing room as well as the first bedroom and in a strip pattern in the two other bedrooms. The ceilings feature moulding.
The landing room provides access to a games room, a study, a bathroom and a toilet. These rooms are laid out under the rafters and feature the exposed roofing framework. There is parquet flooring throughout. The outbuildingsThe outbuildings comprise a shelter for horses, a wooden shed used for storage purposes and a building housing two garages and a flat. On the ground floor of this flat is a living room with a shower room. Upstairs, two adjoining bedrooms are accompanied by a water supply point. The flat spans a floor surface area of approx. 60 m².The parklandsThese landscaped parklands are composed of large lawns, planted with miscellaneous species of trees such as evergreen oak, maple, sequoia, horse chestnut, weeping willow, hornbeam and white poplar.
