On the other side of a meadow, a tree-lined lane leads to the house which, composed of four buildings reflecting an assortment of architecture, is surrounded by a garden. A ruin, just a few metres away from the building, is harmoniously enhanced with exotic plants. Also nearby, a workshop, a carport, a garage and a greenhouse are ideal for garden and DIY enthusiasts. A terrace, behind the house, precedes a covered swimming pool. A vast meadow and its four horse loose boxes, followed by a wood composed of beech and oak trees, extend this secluded, completely unoverlooked property.
The houseThis property is divided into four distinct sections, three of which intercommunicate with one another. The fourth, adjoining one end, has two independent outside entrances on a gable wall. Each opens into a large bedroom, with a shower room and toilet. A real asset for accommodating passing guests. The owners have created an exotic atmosphere, using wooden decor combined with flowering, climbing plants. The houses at either end are topped with a gable roof covered with tiles, the ochre colour of which blends extremely well with the exotic species in the garden. One has an air of a village bell-tower, with its double, hanging roof dormer covered in lead. The other is flanked with two dressed stone, gable-fronted roof dormers. Each of the vertical facades features an engraved scallop, symbol reminiscent of the premises used as a refuge by pilgrims on the Way of Saint James. Between these two houses, with their summery colours, is a more modern house, reflecting a more traditional Breton style through its grey-blue cladding, embellished with more contemporary openings. Its gable roof is covered with slate. The entire house features surrounds framing the openings that alternate granite quarry blocks and dressed stone. Two doors, with semi-circular arches, complete the architectural picture.
Ground floor
A vast entrance hall in the central building provides access to the rooms. On one side, a few steps lead to a bright lounge, paved with terracotta floor tiles. The stone of the walls and the beams in the ceilings are exposed. A wooden stairway is painted white, the fireplace and the alcoves are made of granite. The most beautiful original features have been preserved. They are enhanced by the transversal light flooding in through the windows overlooking the garden. A closed-hearth fire has been cleverly installed in the fireplace. This aesthetic feature makes it possible to sit cosily around the fireplace during the winter months. Next to this relaxation area, a bright, south-facing, fitted kitchen includes an eating area looking out over the swimming pool. With an arbour and shelters, it is an invitation for breakfasts in the sun, for quiet afternoons and for evenings with friends. On the other side of the entrance hall, a vast dining room, with an impressive granite fireplace in pride of place, is better suited to more formal meals.
