In the heart of a historic city with an artistic soul, a 17th century mansion and its garden.
Paris is 150 km away via the A13 motorway and can be reached in just over an hour and a half by train from the station which is a 5-minute walk.
Deauville and the beaches of the cÃŽte Fleurie (Flowery Coast) are sixty-five kilometres away.
The city, nestled in the heart of exceptional natural surroundings, was built on the banks of the Charentonne and Cosnier rivers.
The property is set in the heart of the historic centre of this town of about ten thousand inhabitants offering a broad choice of shops and amenities.
A large weekly market is held on Saturdays. There is a wide range of cultural activities and sports to choose from.
Discreetly nestled in a quiet alley, the house is protected from disturbance and urban agitation.
The property is well hidden from the street, an imposing gate set between high stone walls protects from prying eyes. A paved main courtyard opens onto an intimate garden. At the end of a drive, the L-shaped house boasts the sober and classic lines of 17th century bourgeois architecture.
The mansionThe house was built in the seventeenth century in a resolutely classic style: a main building and a wing at a right angle. The mansard roofs are laid with flat tiles and have high dormer windows. Built on three levels, the surface area of the mansion is of approximately 260 m². The walls are rendered. The frames of the many windows and doors as well as the corners of the building are decorated with long and short red “Saint-Jean” bricks from the North of France. The central span of the main building is surmounted by a triangular pediment with an œil-de-bœuf window.
The wing is built in red bricks. A glass roof lets the sunlight shine into a large room at the end of this wing.
This would be the ideal spot for an artist’s studio.
Ground floor
The rooms are arranged on either side of an entrance hall. A staircase with a wrought iron banister leads to the first and second floors. A small door gives discreet access to the cellar which houses the boiler and a wine cellar. The large living room is brightly lit by French windows and doors to either side of a Louis XV stone fireplace with an ornamental mirror. The walls are panelled and the ceilings are decorated with mouldings. The floor is paved with oak herringbone parquet. The dining room has a more intimate character. In addition to the panelling, the parquet flooring in herringbone oak and the fireplace, two glazed corner cabinets painted in shades of old rose add a touch of freshness to the room. A small corridor leads to a cloakroom, a laundry room and toilets.
The large kitchen has been separated in two by a double sliding door: meals are prepared on one side and enjoyed on the other side. A fireplace made of brick tiles and limestone and a floor with traditional square terracotta paving decorate this private dining room.
First floor
The staircase leads to a landing. There follow a walk-in wardrobe, a shower room, a separate toilet, and three bedrooms with their fireplaces and ornamental mirrors. The largest bedroom has its own bathroom and shower.
Second floor
A corridor leads to an office, three bedrooms, a shower room and a separate toilet.ParkingA closed covered private car park, located in front of the property, provides space for up to five vehicles.
This plot of about 120 m² is constructable.
