In Tours, opposite the Prébendes park, a townhouse set in a garden with trees.
In the heart of the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Tours is surrounded by the châteaux of the Loire. This historic city is renowned for its numerous cultural activities and a dynamic business sector. The townhouse is located in the city centre. Shops and schools are within walking distance. The TGV station is ten minutes away. The banks of the Loire are close by for a walk or to cycle along the river.
A railing creates a separation between the property and the street. A wrought iron gate opens onto a paved courtyard. The townhouse stands opposite, surrounded on three sides by the grass garden studded with trees, with multiple accesses to the house and the wrought iron conservatory.
The townhouseBuilt in the 1880s, the house is typical of the Touraine region. With a living area of approx. 230 m², it is built of coursed rubble masonry and features numerous tuffeau stone decorations: window frames, cornices and dormer windows. The roof is slate. The house is filled with natural light from windows and doors opening on three sides to the garden. To the south, a conservatory overlooks the garden and provides access to the terrace via a small staircase hidden in the greenery. The main entrance, from the paved courtyard, is via a stone staircase, topped by a glass and wrought iron canopy. The double door features coloured stained-glass panels.
Ground floor
The entrance hall is spacious and bright. The floor is herringbone oak parquet. The light coloured wooden staircase faces the front door. A double glass door opens into the full-width living room. The parquet floor of this extensive lounge is identical to that of the hall and the original decorations have been preserved: parquet floors, mouldings, woodwork and two marble fireplaces in mixed colours. A French window opens onto the conservatory, a door gives access to the terrace. The floor is paved with cement tiles. The sliding wooden blinds can be moved to adjust the brightness of the rooms. The kitchen, with its terracotta floor, has been widely opened up to the living room, thus increasing the space for daily life.
First floor
The large landing features straight strip parquet and leads to a master bedroom with shower room and toilet on the south side of the garden. Two bedrooms overlook the park and a shower room offers plenty of storage space. Here again, woodwork, mouldings and marble fireplaces embellish the rooms. Halfway up the stairs, there is a toilet.
Second floor
The landing, which is partly under the sloping ceiling, leads to two bedrooms on the park side, lit by high windows. Roof widows allow the light to pour into another large bedroom on the garden side. Follows a large contemporary bathroom and shower.
Practical and comfortable, it features several direct accesses to the garden. It comprises a large recreational room, two storage rooms, a boiler room, a laundry room, a toilet and a wine cellar.
With a surface area of approx. 400 m², it is entirely walled and closed by the wrought iron gate on the street. It forms a U shape around the house. To the north, the ground between the gate and the townhouse is paved, forming an access courtyard. To the west and south, the garden is lawned and planted with trees. A terrace, also paved, has been installed in front of the south facade with direct access via the conservatory. This secluded area has been planted with plenty of flowers and trees. At the edge of the property, a former dovecote provides storage for garden equipment.
