In a town with 15,000 inhabitants on the outskirts of the French capital, a 1950’s designer house set in wooded parklands.
In the French department of Seine-et-Marne, 60 km from
Paris’ city gates via the A4 motorway. The town’s train station has 45-minute links to Paris-Est. In the immediate proximity of Chessy-Marne-la-Vallée TGV-RER train station, the Val-d'Europe shopping centre as well as an amusement park.
In the midst of the countryside, in a very attractive, bustling town with 16,000 inhabitants as well as all facilities and amenities (hospital, theatre, shops, market, cultural and sports associations, etc.).
In a quiet avenue dominating the town, double remote-controlled gates open into the property. Only the foliage on the trees can be glimpsed from outside the property. Its landscaped parklands are planted with trees, some of which are over a hundred years old. They also include a heated swimming pool.
A double garage set at right angles was constructed at the same time as the house.
The designer houseThis house was built to span three levels under an attic floor which could be converted in 1956. Its stone facades are covered with grey rendering and feature numerous tall, small-paned, wooden-framed windows, some of which are arched. A few steps lead to a terrace in use as a porch, covered with a canopy supported on four thin columns.
The building resembles a small manor house where the openings are traditionally smaller upstairs than on the ground floor.
The garages, set at right angles and communicating with the garden level, also reflect a harmonious architecture which enhances and adds to the coherence of the property.
Garden level
Set at right angles to the garage with which it communicates, this level is in pristine condition. It is entered via a picture window protected by remote-controlled, electric shutters. A large, double room in use as a bar communicates with the garage. A toilet, with a wash-hand basin, is installed behind a large room, once a billiards’ room. A boiler room.
Ground floor
This level houses the main entrance. A landing and a corridor provide access to all the living rooms. A double lounge, illuminated by tall, arched windows, opens on to a terrace. It is divided into two harmoniously laid out rooms. The spaciousness of the rooms is made even more pleasant by 3.10 m high ceilings. Both rooms are enhanced with a fireplace, in good working order; one is made of brick and stone, the other just of brick. A stone and marble stairway, delightfully delimited by wrought iron railings, goes up from the first lounge. A fully fitted, new kitchen, with a central eating area, features beautiful parquet flooring laid in a Piedmontese pattern. A dining room, with a fireplace, is illuminated via arched windows. A bright study opens on to a terrace, laid with terracotta tiles. A separate toilet with a wash-hand basin.
First floor
A landing precedes a corridor providing access to the miscellaneous rooms. A master suite comprises a lounge, with a picture window opening on to a terrace, and a bedroom, communicating with its shower room, as well as a dressing room. The other rooms include a second bedroom, with a view over the terrace and garden, a toilet with a wash-hand basin, a bathroom as well as a child’s bedroom with a bunk bed and a view over the rooftops.
Attic
The attic is reached via a narrow flight of steps going up from the dressing room. This area has a high ridge and could easily be converted. The garagesTwo garages, set at right angles, communicate with the garden level. The swimming poolThis swimming pool, measuring approx. 5x10 m, is heated. Its liner is in a good state of …
