Manor Verneuil-sur-Avre (27)

A 19th century manor house, with a second dwelling and outbuildings set in approx 8 ha of grounds, including a 2 ha lake, 130 km from Paris. Protected by a high gateway, the property is accessed via a 300 m driveway surrounded by woodland, which leads to an immense lake, home to a multitude of migratory birds. The four-storey manor house stands on the right. Rebuilt in 1830 in a Romantic style, it comprises a central section with a gable roof flanked by two pavilions, each topped by a hip roof. The roof is tiled and features several hip dormers to the front and to the back. Rendered in beige tones, the facades are enhanced by corner quoins, window surrounds and brick stringcourses that echo the chimneys. There are large small-paned windows on all sides of the house, protected by louvered shutters. The openings on the ground floor are arched. On the right-hand side of the manor house, there are two-level outbuildings. About 200 m further on, after crossing a small wood, the second dwelling comes into view. It has its own separate entrance from a small village lane. An outbuilding abuts this annexe. Part of the Iton river was diverted to create the lakes typical for this area. They mirror the stately and impressive silhouette of the manor house. Surrounded by forests, the estate was declared a fiefdom by King Louis XII in the early 16th century.

Loft Paris 4th (75)

A modernist open-plan apartment with a 240m² floor area and three bedrooms, designed by interior designer Tristan Auer and nestled on an inner court on Île Saint-Louis island, Paris. This open-plan apartment lies at the end of the inner court of a 17th-century edifice. It is nestled in the calmest area of Île Saint-Louis island. There is an on-site caretaker. When you step through the entrance door, you are first struck by the spaciousness of the property. Reception spaces with a combined floor area of 133m² extend with a resolutely modernist interior design and a floor of polished concrete. Straight on the left, there is a large lounge. Bookshelves are built into the wall all the way along it. Beneath this shelving there are cupboards with sliding wooden doors. The natural light of the inner court floods into the apartment through a wall of translucent glazing. A broad, open-sided passageway runs alongside the lounge and takes you to a 44m² space beneath a glass roof. This space was once used for production. Today, it could serve as a splendid living room. Beyond the lounge, there is a dining area. Here, a long table can be used to host dinner parties with many guests. And beyond the dining area, on the right, there is a cosy television lounge where you can enjoy privacy behind a light-blocking curtain. There is a guest lavatory and then a kitchen, which is bathed in natural light from a skylight. The kitchen furniture units come from the premium kitchen manufacturer Bulthaup and the appliances come from the high-end appliances manufacturer Gaggenau. The work surfaces are made of stainless steel, as are the handles and backsplash panels. There are large storage spaces in the dining area. Plain wooden doors with thin bands of stainless steel close these cupboards. The two bedrooms on this level lie on either side of the entrance hall. Their doors and door frames are made of wood. Each bedroom has storage spaces and headboards made of the same warm material and a bathroom with a lavatory. The washbasins are made of Corian and supported with thin wooden posts. You reach the basement via a stone staircase. At the bottom of these stairs there is a corridor on the right, behind a door, then a hallway. On one side of this hallway, there is a series of storage spaces and wardrobes. On the other side of it, there is a bathroom with a lavatory. Straight ahead, three steps carved out of a tree trunk lead down to a vaulted stone bedroom. At the end of the corridor there is a large utility room. Opposite the door that leads to the bedroom down here, there is a technical installations room that includes a gas boiler, a hot-water tank and the motor of the home’s central vacuum cleaning system. The ground floor has underfloor heating. All the floors are made of polished concrete and the windows are double-glazed. The light switches are from the high-end electrical equipment manufacturer Meljac. Each room is connected to a central vacuum cleaning system. The apartment is fitted with air conditioning.

House with pool Vidauban (83)

A classical villa and garden on a 1,400m² plot with a swimming pool, two minutes from Vidauban town centre in south-east France. A large gate framed between two imposing columns marks the property’s northern entrance. The property is entirely enclosed with walls. There is a secondary entrance that leads in from a neighbouring road on the east side. Beneath a shelter, there are three parking spaces. The north-facing facade is rendered and pale. A plain stringcourse separates the ground floor from the first floor. This facade is punctuated with six rectangular windows in white stone surrounds with finely sculpted lintels. A symmetrical pair of stone steps in straight flights leads up to the main entrance door, which stands beneath a small balcony with corbels of lion heads. The roof terrace is edged with well-proportioned balusters. A statue of a thinker features in the middle of these balusters. A hipped roof of barrel tiles crowns the roof terrace and house, giving the edifice a unique appearance. The south-facing elevation has similar architecture, but is less elaborate, with plain window surrounds and a central balcony that hangs over the southern entrance door and is edged with a wrought-iron guardrail. This elevation also features a symmetrical pair of stone steps in straight flights leading up to an entrance door. These flights of steps are edged with an openwork balustrade and the balcony at the top of them is edged with stone balusters. You enter the garden-level floor, where the apartment lies, via the east side or beneath the steps of the south-facing elevation. A swimming pool and a covered terrace lie at one side, in the garden’s western area. Lastly, an annexe that could serve as a workshop stands to the right of the gate when you enter the property.

House Saint-Clair-du-Rhône (38)

An 18th-century property with four houses, grounds that are home to protected tree species and a swimming pool, south of Lyon, in a village renowned for its remarkable heritage and its vineyards. The property is made up of four separate buildings. In addition to the main house, there is another with a small tower adjacent to a smaller house and a summer house, which is a converted former larder. In total, there is 720 m² of floor-space in more than 3,000 m² of grounds with a drive lined with protected lime and plane trees. On entering the property through a gate with an imposing double-leaf entrance and wrought-iron gate on the garden side, the property’s ochre-coloured façades are a delight to behold. The roof of traditional half-round tiles is outlined by a Genoise corbel. The tower stands out thanks to its glazed tile roof, reminiscent of the authenticity and refinement of the premises.

House Dijon (21)

A family house from the 19th century with 310 m² of floor area and its 610-m² garden in the Burgundy village of Fleurey-sur-Ouche, near Dijon. Named the “Vieux Logis”, or “Old Dwelling”, the property, located in the centre of the village, is included among the town’s most exceptional historical buildings, alongside the Clos Martenot, the Domaine Pérard and the Chateau du Prieuré. Despite its central location, the dwelling is an oasis of peace and quiet, slowly waking to the rhythm of the comings and goings of schoolchildren and professionals, before being submerged once again within the characteristic tranquillity of village life. Built on the foundations of a fortified house from the 14th century, the Vieux Logis originally faced the farmyard. However, the property, reduced in size following several inheritances and subdivisions, including a recent subdivision in modern times that divided the residence in two, now faces the wall-enclosed garden, its ornamental outbuilding and, further off, the valley and town of Urcy.
