A Normandy style half-timbered manor house dating back to the end of 16th century in the Eure department, with just over a hectare of parklands and outbuildings.
In a small quiet village of approx. three hundred inhabitants and approx. 10 km from the sub-prefecture of the department where a full range of shops and amenities are to be found as well as a train station linking it to Paris in just 1and half hours.
The Côte-Fleurie and Deauville beaches are just 70 km away.
In the heart of this peaceful village and its lush green environment, almost ‘confidential’, the property, completely sheltered from outside view, can only be seen once you have passed the remote controlled entrance gates.
The parklands of over a hectare, completely enclosed by quickset hedges and harmoniously planted with trees, in an unspoilt green setting, shelter a robust typical Normandy-style building. Its simplicity makes it authentic, without ostentation and in no way alters the appearance of grandeur of the property.
Driveways lead to the different outbuildings, smaller houses and caretaker’s lodge.
A quick-surface tennis court and heated swimming pool facing south and protected from the wind attract family and friends.
The manor houseBuilt at the end of 16th century with approx. 240 m2 of living space spanning 3 storeys, it was offered by the French King Henri III to one of his minions around 1580.
This manor house was considered a country residence at that time.
It stands on a lower section of stone and flint, has half-timbered facades and is covered by a hip roof with small local tiles. It features some small bulls’ eye windows at the rear. The whole roof is peppered with high Saint-Jean brick chimney stacks.
The facades feature small-paned windows large enough for plenty of light to shine through the whole building.
An old paved border surrounds the house.
Ground floor
A double-leaf wood door opens in to a hall incorporating the staircase to the upper floors.
There are terracotta floor tiles throughout. The ceilings feature exposed beams.
A lounge-boudoir with fireplace and wood panelling, dining room with fireplace and through light, a large reception lounge with fireplace and double French windows providing access to the garden, a fully fitted kitchen with fireplace, numerous cupboards for storage and access to a paved terrace, pantry used as a laundry room and for storage. A separate toilet.
The quality and condition of the panelling is particularly remarkable for a country house. In the lounge, the panelling literally frames the fireplace that features a trumeau consisting of a mirror and oil painting.
First floor
A landing room area leads to a master bedroom with a fireplace, bathroom en-suite and a separate toilet. It has parquet flooring.
Two other bedrooms, each with a fireplace, bathroom and a toilet. The ceilings feature exposed beams and the floors are covered with sisal carpet. The landing area incorporates the staircase.
