An old priory and its 12th century chapel devoted to functions in countryside free of all nuisances near to Angers and the river Loire.
Between two hamlets and 5 km from a historic village with an impressive chateau as well as all shops and amenities. 10 or so minutes from the banks of the river Loire and its delightful villages classified as World Heritage sites by UNESCO. 30 minutes from the town of Angers and its TGV train station, providing links to Paris taking less than 90 minutes, with more than 10 return journeys per day. Just 15 minutes from the slip roads for the A85 motorway.
A little country lane provides access to the various entrances to this property, composed of two groups of adjoining buildings. The first group is laid out around a courtyard, formed by a manor house and its outbuildings. The second is laid out around an old chapel, its origins dating back to the 12th century, which separates two other courtyards and outbuildings. Various gardens, landscaping and other natural areas, which extend over more than 6 ha, surround these two groups.
The manor houseThis manor house was constructed at the beginning of the 18th century on the foundations of an old priory dating back to the 12th century. It is built of stone and dressed freestone. It spans a ground floor, a first floor and a second floor under the slopes of the slate roof featuring roof dormers and oculi, enhanced with triangular and curved pediments. The front door is topped with ogee ornamentation flanking a small window. All the facade openings are arched. Both windows set on either side of the door are decorated with pilasters and a curved pediment supported on the entablature. The window framing, the quoins, the cornice and the roof dormers are made of freestone.
Ground floor
The entrance hall leads, on one side, to a lounge and, on the other, to a dining room with an adjoining kitchen. All these rooms have terracotta floor tiles, French ceilings and freestone fireplaces, enhanced with moulding in the lounge and the dining room. The latter features two cupboards with oak wood doors. The arched openings between these various rooms have freestone framing. The entrance hall also houses a toilet as well as one stairway providing access to a cellar and another leading upstairs. The latter, featuring two quarter-turning flights with intermediate landings, is made of slate and freestone. The end wall of the entrance hall is completely glazed. A back stairway goes from the kitchen up to the first floor.
First floor
The landing leads, on one side, to two adjoining bedrooms and their shower room with a toilet and, straight on, to an upstairs lounge. Said lounge opens, on one side, into a hall area providing access to two bedrooms, one of which has a freestone fireplace, and, on the other, into a hall area leading to a toilet, a shower room and a bathroom. A corridor also leads from this upstairs lounge to a bedroom with a shower room and a toilet. This last bedroom, with a freestone fireplace, can also be reached via the stairway that goes upstairs from the kitchen. This level has terracotta floor tiles throughout and most of the rooms have French ceilings and arched doorways.
Second floor
The stairway goes up to a landing providing access to a large bedroom with a dressing room, a shower room, a toilet and a vast bathroom. All the beams in the roofing framework are exposed. The old chapelThis Romanesque style chapel is constructed from freestone. Having recently undergone major restoration works, it is currently used for function purposes, with a large function room, a kitchen, a lounge, a toilet and, upstairs, a studio flat. The underside of its chancel arch is adorned with frescoes, dating from the 12th century and illustrating the …
