As we walked down the path, the large front door opens and we receive a warm welcome from the owners, who have owned this house for many years.
Once inside, we are invited into the spacious living room which runs along the left-hand side of the house. Large original windows look out onto the courtyard and the garden in front of the pool. This charming room has an open fireplace and exposed beams, and would lend itself well to large family reunions or gatherings of friends.
Beyond it is the dining room with its elegant fireplace, and a small private study.
A passage leads past the guest toilets to the kitchen. Here the eye is immediately drawn to the open fireplace, but the whole kitchen is charming as well as very practical. There is also an unfinished laundry room.
We go back to the front hall, and before going up the stairs we stop at the large salon on the other side of the front hall. This is a pretty room which would make a fabulous library.
As we go up the stairs to the wide landing, we can see that at the front of the house there are two large suites, one on each side of the large window. On the right, the first suite comprises two bedrooms, one with a private shower room, and a bathroom; on the left, there is a suite comprising a large bedroom and a large bathroom.
At the other end of the landing there are four further bedrooms, one of which has a private bathroom, and a family bathroom.
There is a door in the hall that leads to the attic. The house could be expanded up here but the current and past owners have never felt the need for more space.
Back down the stairs to the kitchen, a door leads out to the inner courtyard, which is protected by large attached barns.
Here we find beautifully preserved stone outbuildings, including one where you could easily fit 10 cars, a garage, and the boiler room.
A wide covered porch with a traditional stone and brick fireplace is the perfect spot for al fresco lunches or family reunions
There is access to the driveway from the large barn and also from the garage, and a huge double door leads out to the swimming pool side of the property.
In one of the front annexes the owners have created two large games rooms, and there is a small storage room which has not been touched. The other wing contains two further bedrooms and a modern shower room so could easily be used as a separate accommodation.
At the side of the house we find a shady lawn where the owners have placed comfortable garden chairs. We walk down a charming open staircase that curves around the original stone well to the swimming pool area. The pool is large and wide and very private; a pool house with shower, changing room and WC. This is the perfect place for the younger family members to spend time with their friends in the summer months
