An 18th century jewel, Touraine

An 18th century jewel

The gravel entrance leading to the castle's main façade

Close to the Amboise forest, this listed castle is “ideally located, with the Loire a mere 4 km away and Paris an hour’s ride by TGV, ” says Barnes. In perfect condition, the 18th century building was recently renovated by journeymen. All the lower floors have been rebuilt and vintage elements were retained: facades, framework, study with painted walls and ceilings, Louis XV fireplace and panelling. The ground floor houses a living room, a dining room, a boudoir, two kitchens and a study. The oldest rooms, dating back to the 16th century, include another study, a music room, a video library and an HD screening room. Three ensuite reception areas are located upstairs: a blue room, a gold room and a 180-sq m library. A huge Master bedroom, two further suites and a chapel round out the floor. A big living room and four further rooms upstairs lead to the attic. Furbished and entirely decorated, the castle stands at the heart of a 15-ha estate with vintage stone walls, chestnut-, cherry- and pear trees.
