Charles Zana, collector architect

London, Paris, Bruxelles, Tel Aviv, Monaco… Charles Zana, DPLG architect, interior designer, scenographer, plies his trade in France and abroad. A curteous figure, he goes from one ambitious project to the next with his appetite intact. Private clients make up half of his agency's roster. His latest works include a chalet in Gstaad and the Artcurial restaurant, the latter inspired by Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi and the Memphis group. Although Zana learned from architects from the 1930s and Luis Barragán, he was clearly influenced by 20th-Century Italian design greats (whom he collects in his spare time). An alumnus of Les Beaux-Arts, he learned his trade at various New York studios and set up his agency back in Paris in 1990. With a carefully calibrated team of 15 designers, architects and interior designers, his portfolio of raw and noble materials includes houses, apartments or private mansions, headquarters, stores and scenography.
