Loire Valley, The castle above the grotto

Loire Valley

This 18th century hillside castle stands at the heart of a 5-ha park

In the Loire Valley, this 18th century castle overlooking Amboise provides 900 sq m of living space. "Such a panorama is particularly rare for private castles in the area, says the Leigniel Immobilier agency. The towers give it depth, even though it was partly erected on the side of a hill." Beautifully restored by a worldrenowned designer, in a 19th century style, the building features warm colours (such as purple) and vintage furniture, which is part of the sale. Splendid vaulted kitchens, a dining room, a vast living room and a music room occupy the ground floor. Two beautiful stone staircases lead to five intimate and cosy bedrooms on the first floor (there are five more on the second floor, all of which have private bathrooms) and a large terrace overlooking the ponds. The pre-converted attic has an additional 220 sq m of usable space. The 5-ha estate also features a 90-m long cone-shaped greenhouse, a 22-m long swimming pool and a huge 800-sq m grotto which doubles as an amazing reception area. "This is the perfect place for weddings and parties," adds the agency. A vineyard is also part of this amazing estate. Absolutely quiet and secluded, the castle is only a 2-min walk away from nearby shops. Proposed price: 2,980,000 euros
