Apartment Versailles (78)
A 100m² apartment in the splendid Saint-Louis district of Versailles, with a view over the famous Potager du Roi – the former royal kitchen garden. The edifice is characteristic of late eighteenth-century neoclassical buildings in Versailles. It stands between a street on one side and courtyards and gardens on the other. The apartment covers around 100m² and takes up the whole of the building’s third floor. It is a dual-aspect apartment that faces both east and west. It was recently renovated and offers 60m² of reception rooms. The entrance hall connects to all the rooms: a lounge, a dining room, an office, a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, a lavatory and a wardrobe. Each room features wooden panelling, ceilings embellished with mouldings and floors covered with parquet or old tomette tiles – all in a true eighteenth-century spirit. The lounge, dining room and office lie on the west side of the apartment. They are filled with daylight from tall Cremona-bolt windows that offer clear views over the magnificent Potager du Roi – the former royal kitchen garden – and, beyond it, the Pièce d'eau des Suisses – the chateau’s grand ornamental lake. The 24m² lounge includes a stone fireplace with a wide hearth. The 19m² office is lined with glazed bookcases along three of its walls. The dining room is cosier in size. Its style is uncluttered and its wall mouldings are plain. On the courtyard side is a 17m² bedroom. Like the apartment’s other side, this bedroom is not overlooked. It enjoys natural brightness from its two windows, through which you can admire sunrises. In the middle of one side, an alcove made for a bed gives the bedroom character and privacy. The bathroom, next to the bedroom, includes a large bathtub and a shower cubicle that is well hidden behind a door. The elegantly fitted kitchen features high-quality taps, like the bathroom.
