House Barbizon (77)
A splendid house with tree-dotted grounds in the town of Barbizon, beside Fontainebleau forest. A large metal gate and two pedestrian gates on either side of it lead into the property, which stands at the front of its grounds. In front of the house, a drive leads downwards on the right side to the garage in the basement. On the left side, a gravelled path takes you all the way around the grounds. The house was built in 1973 in a classical style. It has a ground floor and a first floor. It faces north-east and south-west. The dwelling offers a floor area of around 270m². It has a central section with a pavilion at each end. A hipped roof crowns each section. On both sides of the tiled roof there are two oval bull’s-eye windows. And on the garden-facing side, there are three hipped dormers. Quoins of exposed dressed stone bring out the beige rendering of the elevations. The arched windows are broad. They have small panes and fanlights and are fitted with louvred shutters that are painted white. The grounds cover over 3,000m² and surround the dwelling.
