A medieval castle, Ile-de-France

A medieval castle

At the endof a long lane, the main entrance used to be protected by a drawbridge

Registered as one of Frances historic monuments, this splendid 13th-century castle is one of the country’s most beautiful private estates, and the last property of its kind near Paris to have survived the wars of religion and the French Revolution. As far as we can tell, there aren’t many more castles of this size in the Île-de-France area, says Mr. de Langsdorff at the Internationale Mercure agency. The current owner has invested a lot of money to turn this place into a one-of-a-kind, timeless property. The 4,500 sq m of living space are divided into 18 master suites and 8 guest rooms, with individual bathrooms. Entirely furnished, the castle also comes with several dining rooms, living rooms, a reception hall, libraries and a professional kitchen that will handle up to 100 guests. Among the other remarkable features is a 200 sq m room with a vaulted ceiling painted in the 15th and 16th centuries. Boasting a state-ofthe- art security system, the castle has an additional guesthouse, erected in the 19th century, which doubles as a fitness center, complete with indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, a massage parlor, a hammam and a winter garden. There is also a chapel, dedicated in 1304, a screening room with THX sound, a private stage, a recording studio, a tearoom, a botanical garden, a tennis court and stalls. Surrounded by done up ditches, the property lies on a 24-acre park, part of a 1,500-acre lot with woods, streams and hunting ground. Listing price : 45,000,000 euros
