Permission to dream

Permission to dream

Gaëtan De Capèle

Can you put a price on dreams? What owner has not asked themselves this at some time or other? Both those who have bought exceptional properties at over €20 million, like some of the jewels presented in this special issue of Le Figaro Properties, and those, on a more modest scale, who have bought houses ten, twenty, thirty times cheaper. Of course, we all invest at a level we can afford. But at the end of the day, the same is true for all of us: the purchase of a property often turns into the adventure of a lifetime. It all begins by falling in love, the moment we first discover a place, sense an atmosphere or enjoy a certain frisson during a visit. Then comes that exquisite feeling when you decide to stop hesitating between choices and go for it. The emotion of buying a house and making a million plans. Imagining every detail, both inside and outside, to create a property to suit your tastes. The passion we put into such projects is often all-consuming. It takes us over day and night, the subject of impassioned discussions. We count neither the energy nor the money we put into it – however excessive they may be. But an investment on this scale is also the promise of another precious and unique world: a world of our very own, a world alive with the laughter of friends around the dining table, or strolling through the countryside, or enjoying long family get-togethers. No, you can’t put a price on dreams.
