A dream castle, Dordogne

A dream castle

The courtyard of the family castle, which comprises 25 rooms on two levels

On the border of Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne, between Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Bergerac, this magnificent estate, located at the heart of a state-protected 23-ha park, houses a splendid castle surrounded by meadows, a kitchen garden, an orangery and an orchard. “Just 20 km south of an international airport, this secluded property has a beautiful view on the countryside,” stresses Agence Internationale Mercure. Built in the 17th century, modified in the 1700s, the compact but well-ventilated castle was recently renovated. The bright, L-shaped main building, with two towers, features vintage woodwork, fireplaces and floorboards. Providing 1,400 sq m of living space, it has 15 rooms and 10 bedrooms. A great hall, a large living room, a dining room, two studies, a library, a TV area, three en-suite rooms, two kitchens, a laundry room and a linen room are dispatched on the ground floor. Seven bedrooms (five of which are en-suite) and a chapel upstairs round out the amenities. “This castle, currently used as a holiday home, is ideal for upscale parties or B&Bs.” Several outbuildings include a four-roomkeeper’s house, a couple of barns, garages, beautiful stalls and a big swimming pool.

Proposed price : 4,800,000 euros
