A medieval castle near Avignon, Gard

A medieval castle near Avignon

The structures of this ancient castle have been transformed during the 17th and 18th centuries

In a charming village, between Avignon and Uzès, stands the château de Pouzilhac, a former royal possession, registered as Historical Monument and remarkably restored. Set around a square dungeon and four towers, it provides 800 sqmof living space with 19 rooms. The ground floor features four vaulted rooms, including the guard room and the former kitchen. The first floor, with three sumptuous reception rooms in a row, a suite, a library and a study, opens on to a lovely hanging garden and a swimming pool. The second floor houses a spacious independent apartment with a large terrace overlooking the garden. Three more bedrooms and several outbuildings offer many opportunities. While maintaining its authenticity, the castle is equipped with all modern comforts (central heating, automatic watering system). “With its enclosed park, its unobstructed view and its unique shape, the castle makes one feel protected from the outside world, explains the Mercure agency.”
