House Brăduleț (Romania)

Sometimes you fall in love at first sight with a house. However, if you find yourself in Argeș, amidst the green lands of hills and forests between Curtea de Argeș and Câmpulung, on a hill at the end of a street in the village of Galeșu ascending towards the woods, the white columns connected by graceful arches of a traditional house will quickly capture not only your gaze but also your heart. For those who grew up in Muntenia, this house touches sensitive chords, making them vibrate and hope that time can be turned back. It still preserves the original flooring, the kitchen curtain, and the icon with the embroidered cloth, and it even has a small pond that reflects romance. Whether grandparents owned such a dwelling, or it belonged to a noble from not-so-distant times, the child within us loves this type of Muntenian house; it has an approachable presence given by the round columns and promises peaceful mornings and serene afternoons. Even though it requires renovation, this beautiful building outlined against the gentle sky on a mild slope will easily become a holiday residence for a family or an intimate tourist unit – the attic has potential for maximizing living space, and the terrace arches, typical of the region, can be adorned with an abundance of geraniums. The surrounding land allows for agricultural or recreational development projects. The house has two bedrooms, a rustic kitchen, and another room that needs arrangement. Beyond the undeniable charm of the house, the other elements of the property make it even more attractive. The 5000 sqm land is on a hill that offers a fairytale view of the surroundings with endless forests and is covered by an orchard of fruit trees that bear fruit every year. A very special element is the small pond created on the property, which, when properly cared for and arranged, can become an attraction and the preferred choice for relaxation. The village of Brăduleț is located in the Muscelele Argeșului, in the northern part of the county, only 57 km from Pitești and 23 km from Curtea de Argeș. In this area, one of the longest-lasting groups of anti-communist partisans, the Haiducii Muscelului group, was active. In the commune, you can find the former Brădetu hermitage from the 15th century, believed to be founded by Mircea the Elder, as well as other monuments from the 15th (funerary monument) and 19th centuries (the Holy Three Hierarchs Church and the Constantin and Elena Emperor's Church, initially built of wood in 1808 and then in stone in 1877). In the village of Galeșu, known for its puppeteers and flutists, a village museum has been organized since 1976. The area is also attractive for those interested in excursions and hikes – Lake Invârtita in Nucșoara is nearby, and the mountains are not far away
