holidays rental of luxury listed house Haute-Savoie, France

With direct ski-in/ski-out access on the slopes of Rochebrune and just 1.2 km from the centre of Megève, Chalet La Fresque enjoys a setting as exceptional as its architecture. Built in 1934 by Henri-Jacques Le Même, a leading figure in modern Alpine architecture and one of Megève’s most celebrated architects, the chalet was originally designed for the painter Georges Gimel. From the very first glance, La Fresque is unlike any traditional Alpine chalet. Its modernist lines, bold proportions and expansive studio-style windows give it a truly distinctive silhouette against the mountain landscape. A remarkable piece of architecture, conceived almost a century ago, whose original character remains as compelling today as ever. Completely renovated in 2026, La Fresque now brings together this architectural heritage and the comforts of a contemporary home. With four bedrooms and four bathrooms, it offers an intimate setting designed for holidays with family or friends. The property's artistic origins are also reflected in its interiors. Two of the four bedrooms still evoke the atmosphere of an artist's studio, with their large, small-paned windows flooding the rooms with natural light and lending them a character rarely found in the mountains. The top floor forms the heart of the home. Beneath the exposed roof structure, a magnificent living space with generous proportions is arranged around the fireplace. Expansive south-facing windows open the chalet to the surrounding landscape, revealing beautiful views across Rochebrune and towards the Mont Blanc massif. La Fresque is far more than just another chalet in Megève. It is an architectural home in its own right, born from the meeting of one of Megève’s great architectural figures and an artist, then reimagined almost a century later as a place to be lived in and enjoyed for generations to come.
