The Reynolds family arrived in Portugal in 1820, led by Thomas Reynolds, an English sailor and merchant, settling in Porto and engaging in the wine business. From 1838, the family and their economic interests settled in Alentejo and Spanish Extremadura, focusing on the cork business and later, wine. Having settled in Estremoz from 1850, it was Thomas Reynolds’ second son, Robert, who commissioned the construction of this beautiful neoclassical mansion as the main residence for his wealthy family.
