Villa Pergine Valsugana (Italy)

A few kilometres from the capital of Trentino, surrounded by the blue waters of Lake Caldonazzo and dominated by its castle dating back to 1400, lies the ancient village of Pergine Valsugana. Known for its charming historical centre rich in art and characterised by Renaissance-style palaces, this town is also known for the legend of the 'Dama Bianca', the beautiful wife of the tyrannical captain who led the ancient village to misery in the medieval period. At the centre of the streets of Pergine Valsugana is this 17th century palace, first called 'Palazzo Alberti', later 'Palazzo De' Paoli' and only in 1897 'Casa Rimer', from the families that owned the property. On the main façade is a fresco that bears the date 1716 and depicts the Madonna del Carmine as thanks to the Madonna herself for saving the house from a fire. Once you enter through the main gate, historically used for access by coach, you find yourself in a large atrium that ideally separates the property into two wings. The first, which has undergone some renovation work in recent years, gaining characteristics more similar to modern-day houses, and the other, on the first floor, is distinguished by its original finishings from the time of the building's construction. In this second wing of the house, two of the four bedrooms border the adjoin and charming loggia that overlooks the inner courtyard, while the dining room and the living room have elegant frescoes on both walls and ceilings, and wide three-light windows that brighten up the living area. The second and last floor of the entire residence is used as attic space, which stands out for its generous average height of up to 3.5 metres in the centre of the rooms. On the ground floor, a finely tended garden allows us to enjoy outdoor living two steps far from the historic centre. The excellent services the town offers and its geographic position close to Trento but at the same time only a few minutes from the mountains and the lake explain why many people choose Pergine Valsugana as their town of residence or for a holiday in Trentino.
