- 140KM FROM PARIS - NORMANDY - ELEGANT LOUIS XIII CASTLE BUILT AROUND 1620 - TO BE RESTORED - VERY BEAUTIFUL 6.5HA PARK - CENTURIES OLD TREES - ENTIRELY MH CLASSIFIED. NORMANDY - 45KM FROM ROUEN - 24KM FROM DIEPPE. In a park planted with centuries-old trees, partly enclosed by walls, between a semicircular rotunda closing an English-style park on the village side and a large open perspective on the countryside on the other, this 17th century castle built around 1620 for a family of Rouen parliamentarians is considered by art historians to be one of the most beautiful and interesting Louis XIII castles in Normandy due to its integrity and architectural quality, as well as its exceptional Philibert Delorme-style framework; having justified its full classification in 2018. A complete restoration is necessary. No more interior decoration except for a large staircase with an 18th century wrought iron banister and sumptuous vaulted cellars. The castle is presented by a central body between two projecting pavilions. The typical architecture of Norman Louis XIII, brick and stone, is richly decorated, with polychrome brick trellises, sculptures in the limestone of the door frames, windows, cornices, and a basement in flint and limestone checkerboards. The roof is curved like a boat hull, it suggests the extraordinary shape of the original framework 'à la Philibert Delorme' all arched and very airy, formed of 30 rafters forming a truss. In the basement, superb vaulted cellars display a very aesthetic and clever play of colors in brick and stone. Several kitchens, cellars, various rooms, an extraordinary well 100 meters deep (6 seconds of free fall when a stone falls into it), with its impressive water-raising mechanism. The interior stripped of all its decorations only has a beautiful 18th century staircase with a wrought iron banister serving three levels up to the attic. Several outbuildings in poor condition. A cart shed with a beautiful series of wooden arches. Two accesses, one of which is via a pair of pillars and a 19th century gate. Driveway of approximately 470 meters.
