Situated in Septaine, the property is a château whose medieval origins lie in its position on a hill overlooking the Indre valley.
Septaine, also known as Champagne Berrichonne, is a gently rolling region in the south of the former province of Berry, now the department of Indre.
Located less than three hours from Paris on the A20 motorway, this remarkable château is halfway between the small town of Buzançais and Châteauroux. It also benefits from the proximity of a market town, with all the necessary shops, and above all a golf course reputed to be the best in the region.
Just a few kilometres away is the wide open space of the Brenne, a region of a thousand ponds where migratory birds stop twice a year. In this regional nature park, animal-watching enthusiasts come to admire rare species, while hunters of waterfowl and big game practice their passion while respecting the natural balance.
Set in the centre of an English-style park planted with trees, the château is accessed via a driveway that cuts through the curtain of trees that protects it from view. It is an imposing rectangular dwelling with a raised roof and a sundial on the main west-facing façade.
Three towers, located at the north and south corners and in the centre of the opposite facade, confirm the estate's ancient seigneurial status. The openings in the facades, matching those in the towers and dormer windows in a classic alignment, reinforce the verticality of the whole.
The conical roofs of the north and south towers and the gable roof of the dwelling are covered in slate. A terrace with balustrade crowns the east tower, giving this side of the property a romantic feel.
The dwelling has two levels of living space, with additional attic space under the roof frame illuminated by four dormer windows at the front and two at the rear. The total floor surface area, excluding the cellar, is approx. 370 sqm.
