A house with a modernist feel and an artist's studio close to the forest, 6 km from the town of Rambouillet. The property is accessed via a cul-de-sac that leads to the woods and is sheltered from view by a planted fence. Set back from the street on a plot of approx. 780 m², the two-storey house has a floor area of approx. 380 m² and a simple rectangular layout.
The house, which was remodelled in 1995, underwent an ambitious new architectural revamp in 2020 on the initiative of the current owners: A sunken garden of around 120 m² was created along the south-west facade, and large openings were added to the new facade.
The lower level, cleverly linked to the new garden, has been converted into living space.
Today, the house has a slate-style fibre cement roof that extends almost all the way down to the ground, and the south-west-facing roof pitch features a large number of skylights. The opposite pitch has a gable end in the middle, with glass double doors forming the main entrance to the house.
On the south-west gable side, similar glass double doors open from the sitting room out onto a masonry terrace. On the street side opposite, two windows, one of which is small-paned, illuminate a bedroom and a bathroom respectively. The three gabled facades are of rendered breezeblock, with wood cladding at the top.
The garden around the ground floor of the house is partly lawned and partly gravel to provide easy access for pedestrians and parking for one car. A guardrail protects the panoramic terrace above the sunken garden.
