HouseChatillon-sur-loire (45)

This 17th century building is located 160km from Paris, in the heart of the Loire town of Chatillon-sur-Loire, rich in its historical, architectural and artistic heritage. Home to the city's notables for several generations, it then hosted the postal service and finally returned to the hands of private owners who in turn were keen to undertake major work while preserving its history. Today it is the property of an artist in which history, elegance, creation and authenticity coexist wonderfully. After the sobriety of the facade, the entrance is theatrical and it is after passing through a heavy velvet curtain that the living space is revealed. In different spaces but open to each other, it is the feeling of space that dominates. A first literary boudoir welcomes the visitor and naturally leads them to the living room which is decorated with a majestic stone fireplace. The presence of period materials such as beams, stone walls and brick gives it a timeless soul. Widely open onto the interior paved courtyard, in the center of which abundant plantings have taken place, it is a lung of greenery which perfectly complements the reception areas and which invites you to stroll. The kitchen area is dining, comfortable and bright. Its green marble floor is eye-catching. At this same level, the wing running along the courtyard now accommodates a space leaving room for imagination as to its use. An artist's studio on the ground floor, a professional space, a bedroom. The reflection is open. This wing ends with the laundry-boiler room. The elegant staircase leads to the upper floors. The first level is uniquely distributed on either side of the staircase and each space has its own atmosphere. So, on the right, the master suite includes a bedroom, a dressing room and a private bathroom. Here again, particular care has been taken with the architecture and the materials used. A metal structure left deliberately visible, breathes an industrial air with the construction codes of the 19th century but with this touch of modernity which makes the difference. The numerous openings onto the green courtyard invite nature for a feeling of serenity. On the left, return to the main building and the authentic codes. Much more than a landing, a cozy living room serves three bright bedrooms as well as a bathroom. The height of the ceiling, the bases, the stone, the beams envelop the visitor in a veil of charm and authenticity. The second and final level includes two rooms today dedicated to artistic imagination. Finally, an attic with very good height under the frame with multiple possibilities as well as a very beautiful Loire cellar for lovers of great wines, complete the whole. This historic building invites serenity as well as daydreaming and creation. A unique habitat with a strong character.
