House Tours (37)
An elegant 19th-century dwelling, its outbuildings and enclosed garden in the centre of a village, 25 minutes from Tours. From a street in the village centre, the property is accessible via a small door or double gate supported by two tuffeau stone pillars, which is flanked on either side by a low stone wall topped with a wrought-iron fence. These two entrances open onto the partially tree-filled courtyard around which the three buildings are located. A short pathway passes by flowerbeds before reaching the manor house, while a gravel courtyard extends all the way to the outbuilding, bordered by the workshop at a right angle. Clad in finely crafted tuffeau stone, the dwelling’s two-storey façades are punctuated by large or small-paned picture windows and topped with a slate hipped roof. Extending on from the main building, the outbuilding includes a garage on the ground floor and an independent studio in the back. A galleria, the link between the two buildings, includes an enclosed patio at one end that opens onto the garden in the back of the property. Planted with flowerbeds, which define the spaces meant either for relaxation or recreation, the garden gets plenty of sun and is sheltered from view thanks to the property’s high walls. In addition, the arched windows topped with glazed fanlights, on the first floor of the house’s back façade, bathe the five large upstairs bedrooms in sunlight, while the skylights in the sixth bedroom, built under the eaves, provide this last room with plenty of sunshine.

House Tours (37)
A unique and surprising 19th-century edifice with almost two hectares of grounds, just outside Tours. The history of this property is closely tied to the history of the Mame family, which left its mark on the city of Tours for around two centuries. Alfred Mame, the grandson of a printing works founder, became the director of the famous printing works Mame in 1845. He had a modern vision for his firm, both in factory design and labour relations, with the creation of a special housing estate for his workers: the Cité Mame. This modern vision ensured his success. As a botany-lover, Alfred Mame bought this estate in 1841 and extended it considerably from 1857 onwards. At the time, French landscape gardening was changing radically. Mame entrusted the landscape gardener Eugène Bühler with the task of transforming the estate. Bühler was known for having designed the Parc du Thabor in the city of Rennes. The project involved creating greenhouses, building caretaker homes and outhouses and embellishing the grounds. The pavilions and stable were completed in 1869. From the road that runs alongside the grounds and woods, you can enter the property via two entrances. A wrought-iron gate with volutes leads onto a driveway that runs across the grounds. And a second gate, framed between two pillars of brick and tuffeau stone, leads into a parking area and to two outbuildings used as a garage, a storeroom and a workshop. A drive winds around the edifice to the central court and its lawn, beyond a few steps. A terrace beneath a glass canopy roof runs alongside the building up to its main entrance. The edifice is shaped like a horseshoe and is perfectly symmetrical. It faces west. It has a central pavilion framed between two curved wings, each with their own pavilion at their end. Its elevations are made of exposed red brick and tuffeau stone. Its rear elevations are rendered. The window and door surrounds are made of red brickwork that alternates with tuffeau stone. A tuffeau cornice runs above them. Finely crafted timber braces support and bring out the remarkable slate roof. Opposite the edifice, the grounds slope gently downwards among majestic trees and lush lawns.

Manor Tours (37)
A 15th-16th century manor house and hamlet set in more than 2 hectares of land to the west of Tours. A manor house and hamlet with two houses and numerous outbuildings set in an estate with over two hectares of land. From the road leading up to the village, a carriage path leads around the hamlet and the manor house's surrounding wall. A gate opens onto a driveway lined with poplars, with meadows on one side and an orchard on the other. This leads to a second gateway, which provides access to a vast grassed area enclosed by walls. The manor house, built in the 15th and 16th centuries, faces east. An imposing barn, that leads on from it, faces an outbuilding. To the side, small communal areas border the space. On the opposite side, a farmhouse that faces south and its outbuildings complete the ensemble. To the rear of the manor house there is a south-facing house. The central courtyard opposite it leads to a barn which has been converted into a reception room, bordered by a meadow and several other outbuildings belonging to the old farm. At the far end of the estate, a fortification in a polygon shape is a reminder of how important the fiefdom once was.

House Tours (37)
A tuffeau limestone house with secluded grounds, outbuildings and troglodyte cellars in the Touraine countryside. Set in approx. 1840 m² of enclosed grounds, the house faces the garden. The entrance from the road is through a low metal gate framed by pillars and rendered masonry walls, from where a driveway leads to the dwelling. The various buildings, most of which face south, are all attached and form a complex consisting of a workshop with a right-angled extension, a barn and the main house. The facades are of exposed tuffeau limestone, and the windows have dressed tuffeau surrounds. The roofs have flat tiles, with the exception of the barn, which is covered in slate. Finally, the front garden, entirely laid to grass and planted with trees and flowerbeds, stretches down to a series of troglodyte cellars that add to the uniqueness of the site.

House Tours (37)
A 15th-century dwelling surrounded by a garden, courtyard and meadow, in a village less than half an hour from Tours. The north gable of the house backs onto the protecting hillside, while the south side enjoys the sun from dawn to dusk. Situated in a prominent position in the heart of the village, the property affords stunning views. It is to the south and east that the view stretches furthest, across the gardens, the rooftops of the village and out over the valley. A courtyard and two lush gardens border the building on all three sides, creating a skilful visual and olfactory interplay. Vehicle access is via the street leading up to the vineyards and across the courtyard. This recently paved courtyard also provides access to the former stables and the three troglodyte caves. A second pedestrian entrance leads to one of the two gardens. Close to the house and on the hillside, a brick flight of steps leads up to a small terraced kitchen garden, from where a path of round wood slices climbs up to the meadow, which was once planted with vines.
