Chalet with terrace Arcos de la Frontera (Spain)

A house steeped in history, meticulous attention to detail, a journey between the present and a long past... Located in the village of Arcos de la Frontera, this charming house has a rooftop terrace with fantastic views. This peaceful property is a traditional country style guest house. Occupying a 500 year old building, the house has 4 guest rooms with private bathrooms and a flat (2 bedrooms) which has rustic features such as tiled floors and wooden beams. The flat also has a private bathroom and a separate living room. The house has a charming central Andalusian patio and incredible views. Located in the old town of Arcos, the house is in the heart of the village. You can also visit the Arcos Gardens Golf Club. Jerez airport is 30 minutes away by car. The property is located on a piece of land inhabited for thousands of years by many different peoples and cultures. You will notice a church behind the terrace of the house. Before it became a church, it was an Arabic fortress and before that a Roman temple. Arcos de la Frontera enjoys a spectacular location at the top of a cliff. This privileged position made it virtually impenetrable to the enemy, making it an excellent base for the settlers who occupied it for millennia. As for the origins of the house, they go so far back in time that we cannot date its construction with certainty. What we can say is that two ancient Arab cisterns under the floor of the house take us back to before the 14th century and perhaps to the 8th. The intelligent Moorish influence is present throughout the old town of Arcos de la Frontera. For example, the narrow street outside the house is used to channel the breeze and provide shade during the warmer months. In addition, a cool courtyard welcomes you when you enter the house. The tiles are around 2000 years old and may have originally adorned a Roman building that was once about 50 metres away. In the courtyard there is also a Roman memorial stone with an inscription. Of course, the house has been greatly modernised over the years, and especially recently in 2007, since it opened as a bed and breakfast.
