House with terraceGujan-Mestras (33)

Vernacular architecture inspired by oyster huts, this 110 m2 house is set on 421 m2 of land close to shops and La Hume beach.

Built in 2003, it benefited from a 50 m2 extension in 2023 carried out by the Jean Dubrous architectural agency. A true natural extension of the existing space, it houses the living room with open kitchen and fireplace. For its part, the original part accommodates the entrance as well as the four bedrooms, the shower room and the bathroom. Sobriety is essential inside where the white of the walls alternates with that of the Dekton in the kitchen or the light gray of the large tiles which adorn the floor and which recall raw concrete. The large bay window in the living room lets the sun in and forms the link with the garden. Outside, the terracotta of the terrace is combined with the black wood that clads the house, contrasting with the clarity of the interior. A real nod to the oyster farming activity of neighboring ports, it nevertheless remains far from the clichés that are often associated with it, preferring brick and concrete appearance to wood. Two parking spaces are distributed on either side of the complex.

This house is a real family cocoon just a stone's throw from the port, the beach and the shops of La Hume.
