In the marches of Brittany, a flat in the gate-tower of a listed castle, in the heart of a 200 hectares park and its 18-hole golf course.
Halfway between Nantes and Vannes, in the old frontier territory with France and the heart of the Brière Regional Nature Park, the castle stands on the edge of a town of more than five thousand inhabitants with primary and secondary schools. All the local shops are in short walking distance. The Atlantic beaches are only twenty-five minutes away.
On the edge of the village, past the gate protecting the entrance to the estate, the drive runs along the lake and leads to the gatehouse (châtelet) flanked by two round towers. A drawbridge spans the moat and provides access to the castle courtyard. Opposite is the castle, flanked by its numerous towers and surrounded by a thirteen-hectare lake.
The flat occupies the entire south tower of the gatehouse. A spiral stone staircase and a 19th century lift link the different floors. The flat has a surface area of approximately 270 square metres spread over three levels and comprises four bedrooms and three living rooms.
The estateIn addition to the 18-hole golf course, the estate includes a five-star hotel complex and a gourmet restaurant. The castle is built on a crenellated terrace entirely bordered by a moat and a lake. The origins of the castle date back to the 14th century. A round tower remains from this period. The other parts of the castle have been destroyed and rebuilt many times due to numerous historical events that have deeply shaped the history of this region. The current building, constructed according to the plans of Viollet-le-Duc, dates from the 19th century. The flatAccess to the flat is gained from the castle courtyard. The door opens onto a hall paved with cement tiles. The lift and a spiral stone staircase face each other and lead to the different floors of the flat. In the courtyard, three parking spaces are allocated to this flat.
Ground floor
The hall leads into an oblong drawing room. A black marble fireplace is framed by two large windows with views onto the lake. These are set into arched bays with window seats and decorated with folding shutters. The walls are lined with wainscotting. The floor is paved with cement tiles. A kitchen, a shower room and toilets are the remnants of a formerly independent flat.
Mezzanine floor
Accessible from the staircase, this mezzanine is used as laundry room.
First floor
The lift or the staircase lead to a landing paved with cement tiles, and a wooden casement window offers a view of the castle. Three doors open onto a sitting room, a dining room and a kitchen. The walls of the sitting room are lined with floor-to-ceiling wood panelling. A mirror decorates the grey marble fireplace.
Second floor
The landing is identical to the one on the previous floor. It leads to two bedrooms with herringbone oak parquet floors and walls lined with contemporary panelling, as well as a bathroom with toilet.
Third floor
