  • Land 29.8 ha

A 17th century castle and its outbuildings, set in a dominant position, in almost 25 ha of rolling grasslands and woods to the west of Le-Mans.
On the outskirts of Le-Mans, less than 20 km from the town centre (station with fast train links to Paris-Montparnasse taking less than an hour). Le-Mans, its old medieval, Plantagenet centre with its various events (“Cours et Jardin”), its Le-Man’s 24-hour racing circuit and its internationally renowned endurance car race, as well as the Porsche-Experience-Centre driving school and the International Le-Mans-Karting go-cart track. 30 minutes from two golf courses and the Le-Pôle-Européen-du-Cheval equestrian centre. Less than 3 km from two villages, both with all shops.
This estate, in a dominant position, extends over almost 25 ha comprising parklands, grasslands and woods. Two long driveways provide access to this residence which is, therefore, set amidst verdant surroundings. An elegant castle comes into view, followed by an outbuilding housing old stables, a garage and an old dwelling. Further away is a meadow and, bordered by woods, a water-filled moat, fed by springs. A pathway leads from there to the wood.
The castle was constructed at the end of the 17th century, its facades facing east and west. Its external architecture was redesigned in the 19th century under the influence of the fashionable neo-gothic style. Spanning approx. 630 m², it comprises a succession of reception rooms and an old chapel on the ground floor. 15 bedrooms laid out over the two upper floors each have their own bath or shower room or a toilet.
For ten or so years the estate has undergone numerous exterior works in order to structure the areas and to redesign the landscape. Numerous trees of miscellaneous species were planted on various levels. All water and sanitation plumbing is underground. The surroundings and pathways were terraced and the grasslands enclosed by wooden rail fencing.
The estate is divided roughly into a wood and newly planted trees (13 ha), grasslands (10 ha) as well as 2 ha of parklands and alleyways.
The castleThis residence spans three levels. The roofs are covered with slate; the facades lime-rendered. The central building is flanked by two protruding pavilions, featuring watch-turrets on all four corners. The north-west facade has a stairway tower; that facing south-east, a porch reached via a few steps. The protruding pavilions precede a chapel. A square pavilion on the west side is topped with a steeply pitched roof. Both facades and roofs are enhanced with a wealth of ornamentation comprising numerous gargoyles and sculptures; a modillion frieze runs around the entire building; windows feature balconies decorated with stone latticework; the lower sections are composed of Roussard sandstone and the quoins of freestone. The door and window frames have been redone using wood and double glazed with safety glass on the ground floor.
Ground floor
The front door opens into a vestibule, with panelled walls and cement floor tiles. Facing one another are two access doors, one of which is concealed behind the main wooden stairway. On one side, behind double doors, a dining room precedes a pantry, housing the back stairway, and a linen room, followed by a kitchen and a back kitchen. On the other side of the vestibule, a little lounge is opposite a study. They are followed by a large lounge which includes a narrow, concealed door, leading to the chapel. The reception rooms are decorated with panelling dating from the 18th century and old fireplaces with trumeaux. The ceilings feature moulding and the oak wood parquet flooring is laid in a strip pattern.
First floor
A wide landing takes the form of a gallery providing access to four bedrooms, with a toilet and three bathrooms. It is followed by a corridor leading to three bedrooms, …
