A 19th century residence in more than 2 ha of parklands, with trees over a hundred years old, in a little town on the edge of Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park.
On the borders of the Perche region and on the edge of the majestic Perseigne forest; near to Bellême and the famous village of La-Perrière. 200 km from the centre of Paris, 20 km from the A28 motorway and 50 km from Le-Mans, with its excellent motorway and rail links (55 minutes from Paris-Montparnasse train station; 1¾ hours from Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport). The area is ideal for practising nature sports, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. The Saosnois Country has a rich heritage with many religious buildings and a wide range of activities, making it possible to explore its landscapes and hidden treasures. All amenities (a market, shops, all schools, a theatre, an art cinema and a hospital) are within easy reach whilst living in a countrified setting. 15 km from Bellême golf course.
This residence, in a little town, faces wooded parklands, spanning more than 2 ha, including an orchard and a meadow bordered by a stream. The property is enclosed by hedges and old, high walls. Heavy gates open on to a wood and a drive leads to the various areas comprising the premises. The main drive goes to the residence, in front of which a section of the parklands is laid to grass and planted with flowers. Other driveways lead into the wood, dotted with small pavilions: one, going towards the meadow and the orchard; another, going under the woodshed, leads to the annex house and the rented buildings as well as the outbuildings. The rented sections have independent entrances off another street and can be reached on foot from the parklands. These tranquil premises are protected from the turbulent exterior by this verdant haven.
The residenceThe main house, spanning 315 m² of living space, is composed of a main rectangular building built of rendered quarry stone blocks. White stone forms the quoins and the surrounds framing the openings. Spanning three levels over semi-underground cellars, this house is topped with a hip roof, covered with Angers slate. Straight, stone pediments enhance the windows. Slatted and solid wooden shutters protect all the windows. The walls reflecting their light hues and through light make these premises an extremely luminous property. The entrance to the house is reached via a porch, formed at the top of a double flight of converging steps.
Ground floor
Double entrance doors open into a vast vestibule, paved with stone tiles featuring black inlaid decoration. It houses a hanging stairway, its wooden treads and handrail protected by wrought iron railings. This spacious level immediately gives an impression of luminosity. Two single doors provide access, on one hand, to a toilet, a cloakroom as well as a study and, on the other hand, to a vast lounge. Also in the vestibule are two sets of double doors facing one another. On the right-hand side, a lounge-library, with herringbone pattern parquet flooring and gilt ceiling cornices. A dining room with a stone floor featuring black inlaid decoration. The wooden doors are decorated with imitation marble. Following on from the dining room, a second vestibule, with its entrance on the street side, opens into a kitchen, preceding a back kitchen, with a door leading to the garden, and a back stairway. Marble fireplaces in the library and dining room; a stone fireplace in the lounge. Numerous cupboards with double doors are built into the walls.
First floor
A wide landing provides access to six bedrooms and their cupboards as well as to three bathrooms, with toilets. The floors are covered with parquet flooring or hexagonal terracotta tiles. All the bedrooms have marble fireplaces.
Second floor
This bright landing room provides access to three …
