Farmhouse Fontainebleau (77)
55 km south of Paris and 10 km from Fontainebleau, a 15th-century manor barn and its 19th-century distillery. The distillery, due to its location, surroundings, and architecture, embodies a harmonious balance between agricultural heritage and industrial legacy, making it a true link between the countryside and the city. On one side, the residence is flanked by the market gardening fields of the fertile plain where it stands, and a few grazing horses lend the site a bucolic character. From the upper part of the building, the view extends over the crops, offering a shimmering spectacle at sunset. On the other side, majestic and protected trees, crossed by morning light, create a particular and intimate atmosphere around the stone buildings. The barn, commonly known as 'barn of the tithes', previously formed part of the lordly farm of the Fromagerie, built in the 15th and 16th centuries. Adjacent to the main building, it is topped with an old flat-tiled gabled roof, supported by an inverted wooden frame. An imposing wooden door opens onto a paved courtyard. The industrial past of the property is equally marked: the metal structure and loading dock of the distillery, remnants of a centuries-old activity, stand in front of the main building. The beet distillery, built of millstone at the 19th century, rises four levels and is enhanced by large straight windows that flood the interior space with light. Its roof is gabled with flat tiles. Partially rehabilitated, it has been the subject of a building permit application, which has been granted, allowing it to be converted into a residence. Finally, there are two accesses to note on the property: one through a pedestrian passage crossing the majestic courtyard of the adjacent Fromagerie farm, and the other via a large metal gate opening onto the agricultural plain and the adjacent dirt path. This description has been automatically translated from French.

Farmhouse Fontainebleau (77)
A 15th-century seigneurial house to be renovated near the historical town of Fontainebleau, France. A chateau dating back to the 15th century stood on this property up to the end of the 18th century. This chateau was largely redesigned in the 17th century. A map from 1785 shows that the chateau formed a quadrilateral in which each corner was protected by a tower. Yet most of this chateau was sadly destroyed during the French Revolution. The edifice was then turned into a fortified farm complex centred upon a rectangular courtyard. Today, all the towers have disappeared, but the covered carriage entrance with a double gate flanked by loopholes has been preserved. On the left, there is a long stone wall that used to protect a chicken coop and rabbit hutches. Beside this wall there is a dairy and a dovecote. The seigneurial house stands at a right angle to these constructions. Its facade faces the courtyard, on its northern side. And its southern elevation faces the surrounding land. Next to it there is a former cowshed, then a barn. To the right of the entrance, there is a row of four barns. They stand opposite the seigneurial house. An old tithe barn adjoins them at a right angle. All the buildings are made of burrstone. The main house has a three-slope roof, but all the other buildings have gable roofs covered with local flat tiles. You reach the property from a calm village road that runs along the northern elevation of the row of four barns, beside which lie two pétanque courts and a pond. Land extends around the other sides of the former chateau’s rectangular enclosure. An open-sided barn beside the covered carriage entrance completes this complex of buildings.

Property with pool Fontainebleau (77)
In the centre of Fontainebleau, in the Ile-de-France region, a renovated private mansion from the end of the 17th century surrounded by 1,000 m² of gardens. On one of Fontainebleau's most emblematic streets, in the heart of a residential neighbourhood, an elegant 17th-century gate with blocks of dressed sandstone, topped with a keystone at its centre, opens onto the mansion built between the courtyard and garden. With three storeys plus a basement level, the U-shaped building dates from the middle of the 17th century. Today, in addition to the grand entrance, a secondary door provides access to the property. After the entry gate, there is a tiled courtyard, which highlights the façades of the central building and its two right-angle wings – each with three windows on their gable ends – initially whitewashed, and now covered in a chalk-coloured plaster. The large-pane windows, protected by grey-blue louvred shutters, are vertically aligned on each section of the building. On the central wing, the ground-floor windows are topped with triangular Greek-style pediments. On the first floor of the left wing, a wrap-around balcony is accessible and makes it possible to enjoy the different views to the south of the mansion. On the right-angle wings, formerly reserved for the stables, storage and service quarters, rounded dormer windows punctuate the antique tile roof. Behind the house, original walls enclose and hide the garden from view. As on the courtyard side, several doors open onto the lawns. On this side, four windows on the ground floor and four others on the first floor are aligned with the skylights on the last level. Towards the back of the garden, there is an old outbuilding that has been turned into an office.

Castle Fontainebleau (77)
A mid-18th century chateau and its numerous outbuildings near Vaux-le-Vicomte, in one of the first English-style landscaped parks in France. Extending over an area of around 70 hectares, the at first sight unremarkable property conceals a setting where nature, discreetly magnified by human hands, appears to have offered its hospitality in return. As you approach the chateau from the west, the quadruple avenue of centuries-old chestnut trees draws all eyes to the chateau. Past a stone bridge guarded by two terracotta lions, an impressive wrought iron double gate crowned with floral scrolls opens onto the paved main courtyard, embellished with symmetrical flowerbeds “à la française” and rows of lime trees on either side. The initial impression is of a classical building, with its central dressed stone structure flanked by two low wings and topped by a slate Mansard-style gambrel roof. However, the earliest traces of the feudal stronghold date back to the 12th century, around 1180. At that time, there was a medieval castle 'flanked by four towers, surrounded by moats filled with water, protected by a drawbridge, with a chapel, garden, woods and pond'. The estate subsequently passed into the hands of various aristocratic and bourgeois families. In 1750, the buildings were destroyed by a fire. The medieval building was then replaced by a chateau designed for recreation. All that remained of the original castle were the noble features, including the dovecote, which is still standing today. This was the era of classicism: the chateau was erected between courtyard and garden to follow the path of the sun. In fact, it is modelled on the layout of a Parisian townhouse, with a two-storey central building topped by a Mansard roof. With a slightly projecting avant-corps, it is flanked on either side by two low wings with arcades topped by flat roofs and crowned with stone Medici pots. The north wing is extended at right angles by a small gallery that links the chateau to the outbuildings and hereby forms a paved base-court, separated from the main courtyard by a symmetrical wall. The former stables and flat-tiled outbuildings, which have been converted to host events, surround this base-court. To the south, a gate leads to a vast walled kitchen garden with a greenhouse. There is another southern gate leading to a walled garden with an orangery and a maze of hornbeam hedges. To the east lies the English-style landscaped parkland. Beyond the perimeter walls, a gardener's lodge, former outbuildings and 52 hectares of woodland complete the property.

Farmhouse Fontainebleau (77)
One hour from Paris, to the southwest of Fontainebleau, a restored old longhouse with outbuildings and the possibility of acquiring an extra 29 hectares. This property is made up of two longhouses with discrete façades, facing on to a street, and probably built in the 19th century on the foundations of a former convent. The main house has approximately 270 m² of living floor-space spread over two longhouses that have been cleverly combined. This three-storey building has a rendered façade facing onto the street and another south-facing one overlooking the garden. The gabled roof is made up of terracotta tiles. The property is bathed in light thanks to the many shuttered windows. The interior has a garden level opening onto an initial garden, a ground floor that opens onto the street and an attic level. Several outbuildings form a square courtyard surrounding the first garden, which opens out into a second one boasting old stone walls.
