A country house with a swimming pool and a traditional Périgord dwelling, nestled in one hectare of grounds in a town through which the River Dordogne flows. The country house is set back from the road in one of Bergerac’s calmest residential areas. An electric wrought-iron gate leads onto a driveway lined with linden trees that takes you to an L-shaped edifice with a courtyard. The building is made up of a country house from the 18th century and a dwelling that is typical of Périgord architecture. The old house faces south-east. It has a ground floor and a first floor. Périgord stone forms the elevations of the country house, which is crowned with a gable roof of flat tiles that is dotted with several gabled dormers. A single-row génoise cornice runs along the top of the walls. Rectangular windows with small panes punctuate the elevations. They are fitted with wooden shutters. A barn, which includes looseboxes for horses and a wine cellar, adjoins the dwelling. A glazed extension connects the old country house to the traditional Périgord outbuilding. This extension increases the total floor area and provides access to a vast paved terrace, a swimming pol and a summer kitchen. Grounds covering roughly one hectare extend around the buildings. Trees of many different species dot these grounds. They include a magnolia that is listed as one of France’s most remarkable trees. There are also two wells in working order on the grounds. A stream with a waterfall flows at one end of the plot.
