Set in the green countryside of Dordogne, just 30mns from Perigueux and 1 hour from Bordeaux, is the glorious property set in 6,5 hectares. Here you have a country home built in 1889, referred to as a chateau, but was inspired by the Tudor Manor Houses from England. This was built the same year as the Eiffel Tower, in what the French call the ?Belle Epoque', the period when a spirit of creativity and joie de vivre swept through Paris and across Europe between 1871 and 1914. The property was built by a rich textile merchant as a wedding gift for his fiancée, and all the walls are adorned with the original textiles he hade made just for the property. You enter the property by the central hall which was designed to take full advantage of the large stain glassed window that dominates the stairs, depicting the owner in the guise of Saint Front, the dragon slayer. On this same level you have a large lounge with ornate fireplace, a dining room with an even more ornate fireplace and a study, that is presently used as a billiard room. Leading up the master staircase, past the stain glass window, we get to the main guest floor. This comprises of a large landing deserving 4 spacious en suite bedrooms, each one having its own style and charm. You will also find a cloak room on this level. Accessed by the servants stairs you have the top level, which includes a further 5 bedrooms, and once again, all with en suite shower rooms. The lower floor is also accessed via the domestics staircase as well as having its own outside access. On this level, we really get the feeling of yesteryear, as it is were the service and storage rooms are; the main one being the spacious kitchen, a subtle mix of the original features and a more industriel feel. A nice feature is the original fireplace and it adjoining period cooker, dating back to the initial kitchen. The property sits on 6,5 hectares , that is to say over 16 hectares, principally park land, but with wooded areas, this is Perigord after all. Set off to one side is the property's swimming pool. Although there are no outbuildings with the property, there is the possibility of acquiring the adjoining farmhouse, out buildings and sand school. Great if you wish to develop the equestrian side, or possibly more accommodation for rental or even a guardian. If you are looking for a real piece or history in the Dordogne, but don't want a sprawling medieval chateau, well this is a serious contender.

An 18th-century château, dating from around 1750, set in grounds covering over 7.6 hectares. There are places that keep their secrets better than others. On that day, it was the tranquillity of the place that struck me above all else. The château came into view at the bend in a driveway, imposing and serene, as if it had always stood there. I knew that this visit would be unlike any other: some places are not simply visited, they are experienced. The main house offers 600 m² of living space (829 m² in total) across four levels: entrance hall, kitchen, dining room, 46 m² reception lounge, 33 m² library and billiard room, a bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a 43 m² orangery opening onto the grounds and the swimming pool. The upper floors feature several suites with bathrooms or shower rooms, some with dressing rooms or private lounges, and studio-style spaces suitable for kitchenettes, ideal for extended families or rental use. The basement houses two vaulted cellars totalling 70 m². The 1.9-hectare landscaped park, planted with remarkable trees, directly surrounds the château and ensures its privacy, featuring a swimming pool, a well and a spring. Just a short walk away, on the other side of the path, over 5.7 hectares of woodland and meadows extend the estate and frame the horizon. Four terraces (353 m²) offer unobstructed views of the countryside, and a solar tracker completes the picture. A rare property, for a buyer who appreciates the spirit of the place and the value of heritage I would be delighted to show you around this estate and tell you all about every corner of it. An isolated 14th and 17th century castle divided into four homes, in the middle of 34 hectares of land in the Dordogne area, to the northwest of Périgueux. This estate, in the heart of a rural and undulating environment, away from large and medium-sized thoroughfares, is spread out over more than 34 hectares of meadows, organic farmland and woods. The buildings, located in the centre of this land, are surrounded by parkland and boast an inner courtyard, gardens, patios and an approximately 1-hectare orchard. The property benefits from uninterrupted 360° views. It is made up of a main edifice with two wings in an L-shape flanked by an imposing 14th-century round tower where they join, a farm with its various farm buildings near to the passing road and, lastly, set slightly away from the rest, a swimming pool with a view overlooking the surrounding nature. The rubble stone and ashlar façades are mostly rendered, with mainly rectangular doors and windows, some of which have mullions and transoms, while the mainly gabled roofs are made up of half-round or flat tiles. The main entrance to the property is formed by a drive, lined with hundred-year-old trees and a long farm building, that leads to an inner courtyard closed by a gate. A secondary entrance runs alongside a lawned, shaded parking area to the west wing of the castle.

A noble Renaissance-era dwelling, its holiday cottage and outbuildings in a 2-hectare enclosed park overlooking the valley, within the Périgord Blanc region. Dating from the 15th, 16th and 18th centuries, the property stands on a hillside, protected by woodlands to the south and overlooking the valley to the north and west. The high north end walls of the main edifice, with sparse openings, the buttresses and the round tower of the current guest house testify to the fact that this was once a fortified castle. A tree-lined driveway leads from the entrance gate to the noble residence, while a track running alongside the tennis court meets the outbuildings and a swimming pool at the bottom of a slope. A barely visible lap pool is perfectly embedded in the park surrounding the complex. The residence is framed by two enclosed spaces, each offering a breathtaking view: the courtyard where the main entrance is located, a well topped by a pyramid-shaped roof, an outbuilding used as a garden shed, a hangar for vehicles, as well as a pool facing a low pilaster and dressed stone wall. All of these are accessed via a carriage gate, a pedestrian gate and a recently installed gate. On the other side of the residence, the lawned garden with bountiful flowers features a summer dining area under a covered patio.

A chateau, renovated in 1960, in the heart of 28 hectares of bucolic grounds where a river flows and large outhouses stand, nestled between the cities of Périgueux and Limoges. The 28-hectare property stretches lengthways in the hollow of a narrow, isolated valley. Two riverbanks extend across several hundred metres beside a river flanked with meadows and forests. To reach the riverside woods, you can cross a wooden bridge that the current owners built. The property’s four buildings stand in a walled garden. These enclosing walls run alongside a calm road and mark a boundary with the meadow beyond. Stone pillars frame a large gate that leads into a vast drive paved in an opus incertum pattern. The chateau towers straight ahead. Four corner bartizans give the edifice a slender, graceful style. The imposing edifice made of local stone is a harmonious structure made up of several sections, each with their own steep hipped roof of flat tiles. These sections form a U shape and are linked together with a central covered gallery. The elevations are dotted with different windows set in ashlar surrounds, revealing the building's different phases of construction. All the windows are fitted with indoor wooden shutters. The corner bartizans, which are either round with a cone roof or square with a pyramidal roof, are crowned with finials. Wall dormers with a hipped roof or large gable end punctuate the top of the elevations. Following a fire, the chateau was entirely restored in 1960. This work restored the roofs, the window surrounds, the pointing, the terrace paving, and the windows with their small panes, single glazing and wooden frames. The paved space extends up to three garages, a barn, a caretaker’s house, a secondary gate and a huge cowshed that was built in the 1960s. The garden is made up of lawns with flowering plants, centred upon an ornamental pond. This space also includes a small shelter with a roof of flat tiles. On either side of the wall that separates the garden from the meadow, a few stone steps take you across this walled boundary.

This gem is situated just 20 minutes from the famous medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda and in the immediate vicinity of the valley’s most beautiful sites (the châteaux of Beynac and Castelnaud). More than just a château, this estate offers a level of cohesion rarely found on the international luxury market. The vastness of its 27 hectares offers complete seclusion and absolute privacy. Its rich history, combined with its modern facilities (sports annex, luxury suites, guest house), makes it one of the most exclusive properties in the Périgord Noir. The main château houses sumptuous, light-filled reception rooms, a master’s kitchen, a large, richly decorated period library and magnificent themed suites (Venetian, Versailles, Grasse…) featuring luxurious amenities and commanding views over the valley. Nestled at the heart of a 27-hectare private estate, the château is sheltered by its own mystical woodlands, private walking paths and terraces. At the centre of this lush setting, a magnificent infinity pool (divided into two basins, with a fully equipped pool house) has been built on the exact site of the estate’s former water basins, offering a space for absolute relaxation against the backdrop of the meandering Dordogne River. Sheltered from prying eyes and any disturbance, the property guarantees total privacy and absolute security. A thousand-year history of royalty and nobility. Originally built on a strategic hillside dotted with ancient springs, the Château stands as a living testament to France’s great history. The estate played a leading role during the Hundred Years’ War. Marked by successive architectural influences, the château retains a unique dual identity: its floors feature French fleur-de-lis tiles, whilst its walls bear the stencils of Saint George, symbols of the passage of English troops. In the 18th century, the estate entered the circle of the French high nobility. After the turmoil of the Revolution, the estate was enhanced in the 19th century by the addition of sumptuous Renaissance-style turrets, giving the château its current fairy-tale silhouette—a perfect blend of a medieval fortress and the romanticism of a fairy-tale palace. Now fully restored, it houses a historic library where the coats of arms of successive families are hand-painted on the ceiling beams. This château is not simply a property one treats oneself to; it is a rare privilege, the acquisition of a piece of French history suspended above one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. Will you be the next guardian of this centuries-old masterpiece?
