Step into the living history of Northern New Mexico at this extraordinary adobe residence in Los Ojos. Reported to be more than 200 years old, the home reflects generations of regional craftsmanship and offers a rare opportunity to become the next steward of a storied property. Los Ojos was established in 1860 within the Tierra Amarilla region, whose Mexican land grant dates to 1832. Once shown on maps as Park View, residents restored the village’s original name in the 1970s. Today, the Los Ojos (Parkview) Historic District and several local buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, reflecting the community’s exceptional architectural heritage. With approximately 6,200 square feet, six bedrooms and six bathrooms, the residence provides flexibility for a large household, multigenerational living, guest accommodations or a creative retreat. Authentic adobe construction, substantial walls and four wood-burning fireplaces and stoves create warmth, texture and unmistakable Southwestern character. Wood, tile, laminate and carpet flooring extend throughout its generous gathering spaces. The kitchen features a gas cooktop, range/oven, microwave and refrigerator. Propane and wood heat, along with a floor furnace, provide comfort through Northern New Mexico’s changing seasons. Set on approximately one acre with water rights, the property offers peaceful rural surroundings and the timeless atmosphere of the Chama Valley. Community water, septic, public electricity with 220-volt service, direct-access parking for up to eight vehicles, a pitched metal roof and multiple internet options support full-time or second-home living. Near Chama, Tierra Amarilla and the region’s mountain landscapes and waterways, this is far more than a residence—it is an enduring piece of New Mexico history. Historic adobe homes of this size and character seldom come to market. Bring your vision and discover the possibilities within these storied walls.
