Property with poolMontlieu-la-Garde (17)

A grand late-18th-century dwelling, extended in 1912, with a swimming pool, outhouses and over three hectares of grounds, nestled between Bordeaux and Angoulême. A small, calm secondary road demarcates the property’s east side. A gate leads into the middle of the property. In the north-east corner, a brook joins a stream that flows from north to south. A wooded area extends between the brook and the main dwelling with its bakehouse on its east side. South of the main house, two outbuildings stand alongside a drive that runs from the entrance gate up to the dwelling. South of the entrance gate, there is a meadow. And west of the outbuildings, there is a vast outdoor area. These bucolic spaces have remained wild. Tall trees edge the grounds. They include oaks and ashes, which also line the stream from north to south. The main house is rectangular and faces south. It has a ground floor, a first floor and a second floor in the roof space, which has a row of small windows. The building is crowned with a hipped slate roof. The facade is punctuated with six bays of windows set in ashlar surrounds and fitted with shutters with louvred upper sections. There is an entrance door in the middle of the facade. On its east side, the house is extended with a single-storey section with two south-facing windows and a gabled roof of barrel tiles. On its west side, there is an extensive barn that also has a roof of barrel tiles.
