INFORMATION ON THE USE OF COOKIES

When you visit the 'proprietes.lefigaro.fr' website (hereinafter, the "Website") and/or the 'Propriétés Le Figaro' app (hereinafter, the "App"), data may be stored in cookies set by us or by third parties on your computer, tablet or mobile phone. When you use the App, a software identifier associated with your mobile phone may be sent to us based on the preferences you have configured on your mobile phone. This identifier is called "AID" (Android ID) on Android devices and "IDFA" (ID for Advertising) on Apple devices. In the interest of transparency, this informational document on the use of cookies covers both the use of cookies associated with the browser software on your computer, tablet or mobile phone, and the use of advertising identifiers on your mobile phone (i.e. AID or IDFA as described above).

This page explains the purposes of cookies, as well as how we use them and how you can manage them.

The Website and App are published by Figaro Classifieds, a company belonging to the Figaro Group and to which the publishing companies of the websites listed here also belong, as well as the Figaromédias companies (advertising), CCM Performance (performance marketing company), Zebestof (company specialised in programmatic advertising/trading desk) and Golden Bees (a company specialising in targeting candidates).

what is a cookie?

A cookie is a generic term for a text file stored in a particular space on the hard disk of your device (computer, tablet, mobile phone or any other internet device) when you consult online content or advertisements, and any other similar technologies that make it possible to read or write information on your device and which, in combination with cookies, track your activity on the internet or in an app. Certain cookies are required to use our Website/App while others simply optimise and personalise the displayed content.

Cookies contain data, such as the unique identifier of our Website/App, as well as strings of digits and characters. This cookie can not be seen by its publisher. During its validity period, it allows its publisher to recognise a user's device each time this device accesses digital content containing cookies from the same publisher and to memorise certain data, such as user preferences or information previously entered by the user in forms on the Website/App. Some cookies can also be used to recognise a user when they return to a website or app while others store the language settings of a website or are used for targeted advertising.

Cookies do not directly identify users (i.e. they do not contain first names and surnames), rather they identify the browser used by a device (usually a mobile device). However, cookies do allow the actions of a single user to be tracked using the unique identifier stored in the cookie. The term 'cookie' is also used in a generic manner to refer to similar technologies, such as web beacons and invisible pixels, i.e. small digital images invisible to the user that are embedded in web pages and emails and which together with cookies enable the same user's browsing habits to be tracked and analysed.

The cookies stored on your device by Figaro Classifieds, subject to your choices and consent, mainly allow us to access the following information:

• the identifiers of the device used (the IP address of your computer, the Android identifier (IAD) or the Apple identifier (IDFA), etc.)
• the type of operating system used by your device (Microsoft Windows, Apple Os, Android, IOS, etc.)
• the type and version of the browser used by your device (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.)
• connection dates and times
• browser-related information on our Website
• consulted content

WHAT ARE THE COOKIES USED FOR IN THE 'properties.lefigaro.com' Website and/or the 'Propriétés Le Figaro App'?

Several types of cookies (used for the purposes described below) may be set on your device when you access our services or visit our Website or App.

  1. Technical cookies

These cookies make it possible for you to browse the Website/App, as well as ensuring its security and enabling you to access the various services and content of the Website/App.

Technical cookies include cookies that are strictly necessary to browse our Website/App (such as session identifiers and the version of your operating system) and allow you to use the main features of our Website/App. Functionality cookies allow you to access certain specific features, such as recognising you, indicating your visit to a particular page, and, in this way, improving your browsing experience by adapting the presentation of the Website/App to match the display preferences on your device (language used, display resolution), and memorising passwords and other information related to any forms you may have filled in on the Website/App (registration or logging into your account). Technical cookies are also used to implement security measures (e.g. when you are asked to log into your account again after a certain period of time).

You can refuse the use of technical cookies and delete them using the settings tool in your browser; see below to learn how to configure your browser, but be aware that you might not be able to access the Website/App and/or the services of the Website/App.

These cookies have a very short lifespan; strictly necessary cookies are only valid for the time of the session; and functional cookies are only valid for the time of the session, a few hours or a year at most.

  2. Audience measurement cookies

Audience measurement cookies are used to measure the audience for the various contents and sections of our Website/App, in order to evaluate and better and optimise it. Audience measurement cookies are issued by us, by our technical service providers or by our commercial partners.

In addition to analysing the number of visitors, these cookies make it possible to identify any browsing issues and improve the user experience with regard to our services. Visitor analysis services used by this Website/App only generate anonymous aggregated statistics and visitor numbers, i.e. they do not contain any personal information nor do they track your browsing habits on other websites.

Our Website/App uses Wysistat cookies for the sole purpose of measuring traffic to our Website/App and producing anonymous audience statistics. We therefore consider that they are exempt from the consent requirement. However, you have the right to oppose them either by configuring your browser to refuse them or by clicking on the 'disable' link in the “Refuse audience measurement cookies” section.

In addition, our Website/App uses Google Analytics audience measurement cookies for the sole purpose of measuring traffic on our Website/Application and producing anonymous audience statistics.

We also use tools to measure the effectiveness of our email campaigns, which enable us to take relevant commercial actions based on the data collected (e.g. sending a new message or a personalised offer). To refuse these cookies, click on the link in the email.

Finally, when we wish to compile audience statistics relating to the use of our Website/App in a form that does not allow you to be identified by name, we collect data relating to your browsing on our Website (such as time stamps, your IP address, technical data relating to your equipment and your browser). This data is pseudonymized and your IP address is anonymized before being transferred to our analysis tool. In this case, we carry out this processing on the basis of our legitimate interest (Article 6§1f. of the RGPD), which lies in the need to better understand our audience in order to adapt our content, features and offers.

You can, of course, object to such processing by clicking here.

  3. Advertising Cookies

Advertising cookies allow us to tailor advertising content on our Website/App or third-party websites and apps to your interests and to measure its effectiveness.

The use of advertising on our Website/App helps pay for the content and services we make share with you free of charge.

Advertising cookies allow us to show you advertisements or display sponsored links that we (or our Group and commercial partners) feel are best suited to your user profile based on your areas of interest, your device, your browsing history and your geographical location (longitude, latitude) subject to your prior consent, but also to offer you relevant content likely to help you in your job search. They also help us tailor advertisements on other websites based on your user profile and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on our Website/App.

The relevance of the advertising content displayed on our Website/App or on third-party websites and apps can also be achieved via the technologies used by our advertising partners by associating the browsing information of the devices you use to connect to our Website/App or to other websites and apps with the data you provided to us when registering or accessing one of our services.

To configure your choices with regard to advertising cookies, you can either configure your browser to refuse them, or use the Figaro Classifieds cookie configuration tool.

Refusing advertising cookies will not affect the use of our Website/App. However, refusing them will not stop you seeing advertisements on our Website/App or the internet.

You will still see advertisements but they will not reflect your interests or may be displayed repeatedly regardless of how many times you have already seen them.

What are advertising cookies used for?

Advertising cookies may be stored on your device when you visit a website or click on an online advertisment, or when you open an email or a notification on the Website/App (or in another form). Cookies and advertising identifiers enable the companies belonging to the Figaro Group and its commercial partners to display, on our Website/App or on third-party websites, advertisements that match your interests based on your user profile and, where applicable, based on information about your browsing habits on our Website/App and data about your geographical position (longitude and latitude) sent by your device with your prior consent.

They are used to measure your interactions with these advertisements: to count the number of advertisements displayed in our advertising spaces, to identify these advertisements, to know how many times they are displayed to a particular user, the number of clicks on each advertisement and, if applicable, the subsequent actions taken on the pages these advertisements lead the user to.

They also make it possible to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and to calculate the sums due to players in the advertising distribution chain (marketing agencies, advertising agencies, distribution website/media, etc.) and to generate statistics.

They also limit the number of times you see the same advertisement on the same medium.

    How is this data collected?

Advertising cookies (advertising identifiers on mobile devices) are placed on the user's device using technologies (tags) provided by our advertising partners. These tags are placed on the pages you visit or are directly inserted by advertisers in the advertisements displayed on our Website/App.

These tags automatically transmit information on the content of the page visited or the advertisement placed on the page visited to these advertising partners. This information is associated with the identifier contained in the cookies placed on your computer and/or mobile device by our partners.

When do advertising cookies and the data they contain expire?

Advertising cookies stored when you browse our Website/App expire after 13 months. The associated data, which is sent to our advertising partners, is retained by the latter for a period which, in principle, should not exceed 13 months.

To find out how long cookie identifiers are associated with your user profiles by our commercial partners in our cookie setting tool, please consult the information on their websites.

How is my user profile compiled?

Your user profile is based on pre-defined categories established by us or our commercial partners, i.e. the content you consult on our Website/App, as well as the websites and apps of our partners and commercial partners.

To learn more about our partners, please consult the information on the websites of our commercial advertising partners listed in our cookies configuration tool.

Information about the content consulted on our Website/App is associated with the identifier contained in the cookies. The use of cookies makes it possible to associate browsing data with your profile regardless of the device used thanks to cookie-exchange technologies implemented by our advertising partners.

Your profile is also enhanced with data from your interactions with us and, depending on the commercial partnership with our advertising partners, with data from your interactions with third parties who have entered into a partnership agreement with our advertising partners when you log into an online service or subscribe to a service. Matches may also be made with data collected offline and stored in our customer management tools or those of our advertising partners.

The use of advertising cookies stored on your device when you consult a website or an online advertisement, when you open an email or a notification on our Website/App (or in any other form) allows us, our commercial partners and/or their partners to tailor direct marketing messages to you based on your interactions with advertisements placed on our Website/App. Visiting a page on our Website/App containing an advertisement for one of our services or for a particular advertiser's product or a sponsored link from a particular advertiser posted by our commercial partners may trigger an email from us or from that advertiser relating to the advertisement seen.

(To refuse the use of advertising cookies, please click here).

  4. Sharing cookies (social networks)

These cookies improve interactivity on the Website/App.

Our Website/App contains sharing cookies for Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn and similar social networks. They allow you to share content from our Website/App with other people, share content and opinions about content on the Website/App, or log in to access all Figaro Classifieds services using your ID data on these social networks.

This mainly applies to the 'Share' and 'Like' buttons on social media networks such as 'Facebook' or X (formerly Twitter) or Linkedin. Social networks providing these buttons may identify you via this button even if you did not use it when consulting our Website/App.

These cookies are directly stored by these social networks. If you log into a social network while visiting our Website/App, the share buttons will link the consulted content to your user account.

These cookies may also be enabled if your browser displays content from social networks embedded within our Website/App.

Please consult the privacy policies of these social networks in order to learn about usage purposes, including the advertising and browsing information they may collect via these buttons.

In principle, these cookies expire after 13 months.

  5. Cookies for personalising the reader's experience

These cookies allow us to personalise the displayed editorial content so that it corresponds to the (assumed) interests of the reader, as well as to personalise the products and services offered by Figaro Classifieds and to measure the effectiveness of our personalisation services.
