A love affair..., Antoine Courtois

As an engineer and architect, I was born to create, to invent, to build. And life, with its twists and turns and secret plans, has led me to recreate, to reinvent and to rebuild, first by opening my eyes to the ‘Atelier Mériguet-Carrère’ over twenty years ago and, more recently, to the ‘Chevalier’ company.

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined rubbing shoulders with the greatest architects, the most talented interior designers and the most artistic clients, combining our respective talents to give the most magical places their lustre, majesty, grandeur and authenticity!

From France to the United States, from Switzerland to the United Kingdom, from Russia to China: the world opens its doors and its marvels, its traditions and its knowledge, its styles and its cultures. The world feels the need to rediscover its values of beauty, restoration and transmission: its immense and eclectic heritage offers men of goodwill such as me the incredible opportunity to revive and glorify the past.

What a joy and honour it is to breathe new life into stone and wood, painting and gilding! What a joy and honour it is to bring light and life in this time of crisis and gloom! Our heritage is a jewel, and it is our duty to protect and restore it, actively, completely and with love.
