A delightful charterhouse, Aquitaine

Ten kilometers from downtown Bordeaux and ten minutes from the international airport, this ochre mansion could hold its own against Tuscany's most beautiful houses. Built at the turn of the 18th century, the property has retained many vintage elements, such as stone fireplaces and Gironde earth flooring with slate cabochons. It was stylishly refurbished in 2008 (all paneling and door frames were restored) for impeccable comfort. “Windows on either side of the building make for a very bright charterhouse,” the Lafaye agency says.
