The decision to place that space, due to the energy that the place transmits to it, where you have the feeling of being in another dimension, as if you had gone back 200 years in time, perhaps because of the high walls that protect the interior from the real world.They decided to take a risk and buy the abandoned palace with the old decrepit distillery that, they came to discover, had been one of the main in the northern part of the island, where the community produced liqueurs and brandy.In January 2020, reconstruction works began, which focused mainly on interiors, insulation, coating and organization and reforestation of outdoor spaces. The original façade was fully maintained. The idea was to make a small charming hotel, taking a vibrant building with history and improving it to an extreme level of comfort, where you could enjoy your ancestry in a pleasant way, where the management could recover a habit with 40 years, from the early days when you started coming to Pico and receiving groups of friends: to be able to welcome those who arrive with time, proximity and comfort, and to show the world the best of the Azores, a land that the management discovered and that today is also a little bit of its own.A holiday home built in a former distillery, on private property. In it you can enjoy local dishes and delicacies prepared by the hands of those who know how to make them so well, or you can even choose to cook your own meals, which we take care of after cleaning the space.All rooms have access to the old balcony at the front of the main building, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the sea.In order to offer guests the widest possible range of Pico's gastronomy and customs, a wood oven and a barbecue were built in the wooded part at the top of the property. Here you can eat fresh grilled fish, or learn how to make corn cake, eaten hot with artisanal fresh cheese.On the property there is an old tidal well, filled with very fresh brackish water at high tide, good for watering or washing the vegetables picked from the garden.The heated pool allows delicious private baths, especially pleasant after returning from an invigorating sea bath, or a session in the sauna. ref:CAS_10
