House with pool and garden Marlborough (United Kingdom)

Fine & Country are delighted to present West Overton House. An extensive country house set within a world heritage area of beautiful countryside. Wonderful charm in abundance is on offer, complete with coach house annexe, pool and tennis court.Summary:Set within the timeless landscape of the Marlborough Downs, this elegant former rectory has an immediate presence — its soft pink façade glowing gently against the surrounding countryside. For over thirty years it has been a cherished private home, and now, for the first time in a generation, it offers an opportunity to become part of its continuing story.Graceful Georgian proportions, beautifully balanced interiors and an undeniable sense of calm define the house. It is a home that feels both refined and welcoming — equally suited to large gatherings or the simple rhythm of everyday life.Seller Insight:What is your favourite room of the house and why?My favourite room is hard to choose! I probably have to plump for the drawing room, a beautiful light space perfect for big family gatherings, smart dinners or just a sunny place to sit and read. The Carrara marble fireplace and high ceiling lend a special elegance to every occasion.Who do you think would be the next ideal owner? The ideal owners would be a family who would appreciate the warm and friendly atmosphere and space for welcoming friends to enjoy all the fun that the house has to offer. Or anyone who loves entertaining! What do you love most about the house and why?Every room works perfectly, whatever you want to use it for. Gardens that feel spacious but manageable. I love the pool in summer and endless games of tennis. What do you love about the local community?A lovely friendly atmosphere, with community groups, the choir, the active local church, walking distance of two pubs and easy reach of Marlborough and its many amenities. How easy is it to commute from here?Excellent train links from Bedwyn, Pewsey and Swindon; fifteen minutes and half an hour to Swindon. My husband commuted for twenty years to central LondonWhat made you choose the property over others? We fell in love with the property, a grand old house with lovely big rooms, high ceilings, an attractive garden and wonderful views. It was also incredibly convenient for excellent secondary schools in the area.Internal Accommodation:The house unfolds with an ease that is rarely found, where each space connects naturally to the next. Light moves effortlessly throughout, enhancing the sense of openness while retaining a comforting intimacy. The principal rooms are quietly impressive rather than overtly grand — elegant spaces that invite conversation, relaxation and time spent together. Garden views are ever-present, drawing the outside in and reinforcing the connection to the surrounding landscape. At its heart, the kitchen is warm and characterful — a space that feels lived-in and loved, where mornings begin slowly and evenings gather pace around the table. Upstairs, the atmosphere remains calm and restorative. Bedrooms are thoughtfully arranged, offering both privacy and flexibility, while the upper level provides an additional space that lends itself to creativity, retreat or quiet reflection. Outside The gardens are a true extension of the house — mature, private and deeply peaceful. Sweeping lawns and established trees create a sense of seclusion, while the walled garden offers a more intimate setting, sheltered and serene. As the seasons change, so too does the experience of the grounds; from long summer afternoons by the pool to crisp mornings with far-reaching views across open farmland. Tucked discreetly within the grounds, the Coach House provides beautifully independent accommodation — ideal for guests, extended family or a more contemporary way of working from home. Leisure and lifestyle sit naturally here, with space to entertain, unwind and enjoy — whether that's a game of tennis, time spent poolside, or simply the quiet luxury of being surrounded by nature.Location Positioned within the Avebury World Heritage landscape, the setting is both remarkable and deeply grounding — a place where history, nature and open space combine in a way that feels increasingly rare. Marlborough, just a short drive away, offers a vibrant contrast — a historic market town with a strong sense of community, excellent schooling and an enviable mix of independent shops, restaurants and cultural life. For those drawn to the outdoors, the surrounding countryside is exceptional, with endless opportunities for walking, riding and exploring. At the same time, excellent transport links ensure London and the wider South West remain within easy reach, making this as practical as it is beautiful.Services: Main House - Mains water, electricity, and drainage. Oil central heating.Coach House - Mains water, electricity, and septic tank drainage.

House with garden Pewsey (United Kingdom)

Fine & Country are delighted to present Summerdown House. A rare opportunity to acquire a refined country home in one of Wiltshire's most picturesque and sought-after locations. Summer Down House offers superbly-presented accommodation, annexe and glorious gardens with views of the White Horse and surrounding scenery.Seller Insight: What is your favourite room in the house and why?The drawing room. Being double aspect, it has beautiful light all years round with gorgeous high ceilings and a huge gas fire. Though our bedroom with the triple aspect view over the Pewsey Vale and Alton Barnes white horse is pretty epic. Who do you think would be the next ideal owner? ?The house suits a family like us, who want a low maintenance house and like to entertain. The Bothy provides extra turnkey overflow accommodation and with every bedroom bar one having an en suite, it's fab for having guests. What do you love most about the house and why??I love every bit of our house and am devastated it's time to move on. We would be here forever if we could. It's perfect for families but equally perfectly sized for just us and the dogs when the children leave home. I love the views, the space, so many windows in every room, so much light, yet double glazed so super cozy in winter. Underfloor heating, the birds and the hares in the field; the bay cows being born in spring in front of the house in our wild meadow, the autumn light on the meadow, the apple trees and homemade apple juice. All of it!What do you love about the local community??The community is gorgeous. For us coming from London to have coffee on tap next door and my now private larder 100 yards away is as close to heaven and as convenient as you can get!How easy is it to commute from here?We are 12 mins from Pewsey station which is 58 mins by train to London. Crucially though, if that line is down for some reason, we have Bedwyn 30 mins away; Swindon 30 mins away and Andover 40 mins away. All different very easy options. What made you choose the property over others that were available at the time?We chose it because it is as beautiful as a listed Georgian building, but with none of the architectural pit falls, because it's a new house. Underfloor heating, no damp, airtight etc. It's perfectly configured too, most houses are random and don't flow!Accommodation:Set within an enviable position in the heart of the Pewsey Vale, Summer Down House is an elegant and beautifully proportioned detached residence, designed in a classic neo-Georgian style and enjoying far-reaching views across unspoilt Wiltshire countryside towards the iconic White Horse on Milk Hill.Ground Floor:From the moment of arrival, the property conveys a wonderful sense of balance and light, with well-appointed accommodation arranged over two floors. A generous entrance hall forms the central hub of the home, seamlessly connecting the principal reception rooms. The dual-aspect sitting room is particularly impressive, featuring an open fireplace and French doors that open directly onto the garden, creating an effortless connection between indoor and outdoor living. The kitchen is thoughtfully designed as a sociable, eat-in space, with lapsed planning permission previously granted to extend and create a substantial kitchen/breakfast room (19/01247/FUL), offering exciting potential for further enhancement. From here, the glazed dining room provides a striking vantage point, perfectly framing the surrounding countryside and the distinctive White Horse beyond.Additional ground floor accommodation includes a versatile playroom and a dedicated study, ideal for modern family living and home working alike.First Floor:Upstairs, the sense of space continues. The principal bedroom suite is a standout feature, enjoying triple-aspect views and comprising a generous dressing room, walk-in wardrobe and a well-appointed en suite bathroom with separate shower. Three further bedroom suites offer excellent comfort and privacy for family and guests, alongside a fifth double bedroom and a beautifully finished family bathroom.Annexe:The detached double garage has been partially converted to provide flexible ancillary accommodation, ideal for guest overflow or potential income generation, currently arranged with a kitchenette, shower room and reception space on the ground floor, and two interconnecting bedrooms above. The rest of the ground floor comprises an office space and a single bay garage.Grounds:The gardens are a particular delight, wrapping gracefully around the property and offering a high degree of privacy. Predominantly laid to lawn, they are interspersed with mature trees, well-stocked borders and a productive vegetable patch. The setting is truly exceptional, with uninterrupted views across rolling fields towards Milk Hill, creating a wonderfully peaceful and quintessentially English backdrop.Location:Nestled within the heart of the Pewsey Vale, Honeystreet is a quintessential Wiltshire hamlet, perfectly positioned amidst rolling downland and unspoilt countryside. This highly regarded setting lies within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering an exceptional lifestyle defined by scenic walks, bridleways and a strong sense of rural tranquillity, while remaining remarkably well connected. Honeystreet itself is home to a popular canalside café and village shop as well as, The Barge Inn, a well-known destination for both locals and visitors. The nearby village of Pewsey provides a more comprehensive range of everyday amenities including a supermarket, independent shops, a doctors' surgery, pharmacy, and a selection of cafés and public houses. For a wider array of facilities, the historic market town of Marlborough is within easy reach, renowned for its charming High Street, boutique shopping, restaurants and leisure facilities. Further regional centres such as Devizes and Salisbury also offer excellent retail, cultural and recreational opportunities. The area is particularly well regarded for its schooling.
