In 1908 , the State Railways opened a stop in Uttran, allowing wealthy Stockholm residents to trade city life for fresh lakeside air without sacrificing a smooth commute. This station operated until 1969 . Until the 1950s, Uttran was nationally renowned for its exceptionally clean, healing air, which led to local sanatoriums being built.
