FarmhouseFunchal (Portugal)

Quinta Cova is one of the oldest farms known in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, whose construction is presumed to date from 1814. The property is very close to Funchal city centre and enjoys great views of the city and the sea. Currently, it is composed of magnificent infrastructure, which includes the Quintinha, an elegant chalet that maintains to this day all the original characteristics of the initial construction, at the beginning of the nineteenth century.Inserted in an area of land of 4900 m2, the mother house has about 900 m2, also having a second support house, set with large shrubs and secular trees and wonderful gardens, which give it a special uniqueness. This farm houses a vast history, having been owned by English families in the early nineteenth century, and gaining great notoriety at the end of the last century through Simone de Chazal and her daughter Chantal, putting this farm intimately linked to our emblematic flower festival. The mother house consists of three floors, the 0rd floor consisting of living and dining rooms, kitchen, office and service areas. On the 1st floor we find two living rooms, one of them with fireplace, three suites and two smaller bedrooms. On the second and last floor we have a magnificent suite, the main one, served by a balcony where we can enjoy a magnificent view over the amphitheater of the city of Funchal.
