Farmhouse with garden Funchal (Portugal)
Stunning 18th-century estate, located in a quiet residential area with good access and various services nearby. With a fantastic view over the city, the sea, and the mountains, this historic estate also features the coat of arms belonging to the Viscount and Count of Ribeiro Real family, one of the wealthiest and most influential Madeiran families of the time. Holding one of the largest fortunes in Portugal and connected to the writer José Maria de Eça de Queirós through his sister, Quinta do Esmeraldo was bequeathed to the countess, Mrs. Teresa da Câmara Leme do Carvalhal Esmeraldo de Bettencourt e Vasconcelos de Sá Machado, who later sold it to Major João dos Reis Gomes. Today, a bust in his honor can still be found in Funchal's Municipal Garden. This estate features three road frontages, a small lake, a vast garden with large, centuries-old trees, well-maintained gardens, a large irrigation water tank, and a small lookout point. The main house, which requires some improvements and restoration, is spread over two floors. The upper floor houses four bedrooms, including a large master suite with a living room and library, as well as two living rooms, a dining room, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The flooring is made of casquinha wood and is in good condition. The lower floor includes another kitchen and a large hall that spans the entire house, with stone walls preserved. Just five minutes from the city and close to the expressway, this property is an excellent option for those seeking a home where they can relax and enjoy views of the sea and mountains.
