DESCRIPTION Wicksted Hall is an exceptional Arts & Crafts country house occupying a private and elevated position within the rolling countryside of South Cheshire. Commissioned by Lieutenant Herbert Wicksted Ethelston and constructed between 1903 and 1906, the Hall was conceived as the principal residence of a private country estate and today remains one of the county's most distinctive examples of Arts & Crafts architecture. Built during the final years of the Edwardian era, the house displays many of the characteristics associated with the movement, including stone mullioned windows, decorative brickwork, green oak detailing and finely crafted architectural features. Extending to approximately 13,734 sq ft, the accommodation offers impressive scale and flexibility, with elegant reception rooms, substantial bedroom accommodation and a significant leisure wing. Approached through private gates and sweeping driveways, the Hall enjoys complete privacy within approximately 10.4 acres of established gardens, paddocks and grounds. Features include a Victorian walled kitchen garden, original glasshouses, mature trees, secondary estate access and a collection of historic outbuildings, all contributing to the atmosphere of a traditional English country house. The elevated position affords far-reaching views across the Cheshire and Shropshire countryside, whilst excellent communications place London within convenient reach via Crewe Station, where services to London Euston take approximately 90 minutes. Wicksted Hall is offered independently and represents a rare opportunity to acquire a significant Arts & Crafts country house. The historic Gate Lodge and former Estate Cottages, originally forming part of the wider estate, may be available by separate negotiation. Rarely do country houses of this architectural significance, scale and provenance become available within Cheshire. Property Information
