House with terrace Sandwich (United Kingdom)

What the Owners Say: When we first decided to build our home, the main attraction was the location. This part of Woodnesborough offers a rare blend of rural calm, village charm and exceptional access to some of Kent’s most desirable destinations. Living here has given us the best of all worlds: countryside views, peaceful surroundings and the convenience of being moments from thriving towns, beautiful coastline and excellent transport links. One of the greatest advantages has been the proximity to Sandwich, just a short drive away. It’s a wonderfully historic Cinque Port town with medieval streets, independent shops, cafés, restaurants and riverside walks. Whether popping in for essentials, enjoying lunch by the quay or exploring its heritage, Sandwich has always felt like an extension of home. Just a short distance from the property, Sandwich offers some of the finest golf in the country. The world‑renowned Royal St George’s Golf Club, host to multiple Open Championships, provides an extraordinary links experience with sweeping coastal views and a course celebrated for its heritage and challenge. Nearby Prince’s Golf Club offers 27 beautifully maintained links holes, blending championship pedigree with a welcoming atmosphere, while Royal Cinque Ports in Deal delivers another exceptional coastal course favoured by serious golfers. Having three elite clubs within such easy reach has made this location a true haven for golf enthusiasts, with world‑class facilities and unforgettable scenery just moments from home. For a change of pace, Canterbury is easily reached. The city offers everything, premium shopping, theatre, fine dining, cultural attractions and of course the iconic cathedral. It’s been our go‑to for days out, family trips and evenings in the city. We’ve also loved how close we are to the Thanet coastline. Within a short drive you can reach the sandy beaches of Deal, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate. Whether it’s summer days on the beach, coastal walks or enjoying the vibrant seaside atmosphere, having the coast so accessible has been a real lifestyle benefit. The surrounding villages add even more charm. Ash, just minutes away, offers local shops, pubs and a friendly community feel. Woodnesborough itself is peaceful and picturesque, with countryside walks right on the doorstep, something we’ve appreciated daily. Schooling has also been a major advantage. There are excellent primary and secondary options nearby, including well‑regarded schools in Sandwich, Ash and the wider district. For families, the convenience and quality of education in the area is a real strength. Despite the rural setting, travel has been incredibly easy. Sandwich station provides direct links to London, making commuting or visiting the capital straightforward. Road connections are equally strong, with routes to Canterbury, Dover, Thanet and beyond all close by. Living here has given us a lifestyle that feels both relaxed and connected, countryside tranquillity with everything we need within easy reach.

House with terrace Deal (United Kingdom)

What the Owners Say: Living at Hull Place in Sholden has given us the perfect balance of countryside calm and everyday convenience. It’s a location that feels tucked away, private and peaceful, yet everything we need is only a few minutes from the door. The area has a lovely village feel,  friendly, safe, and beautifully green, and we’ve always appreciated how easy it is to get around, whether heading into Deal (twinned with St Omer), out to the coast, or further afield. One of the biggest advantages of living here is the transport connectivity. Despite the rural setting, we’re only a short drive from Deal railway station, which offers regular services to London St Pancras via High‑Speed, London Charing Cross, and London Bridge, making commuting or visiting the city straightforward. Road links are equally convenient: the A258 takes you quickly towards Dover or Sandwich, and the A2/M2 is easily accessible for travel to Canterbury, Medway and beyond. Bus routes through Sholden and Deal provide reliable local connections too. Day‑to‑day amenities are close at hand. Deal’s town centre is just a few minutes away and offers an excellent range of independent shops, boutiques, supermarkets, cafés and restaurants. We’ve always enjoyed the mix of practical convenience and coastal charm, from picking up groceries to strolling along the seafront or browsing the Saturday market. Closer still, Sholden has a welcoming community atmosphere with local stores and services that make life easy. One of our favourite aspects of living here has been the access to farm shops and local produce. Within a short drive you’ll find places like Ripple Farm, Solley’s Farm, and several smaller independent growers offering fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and artisan goods. It’s a lovely part of the lifestyle here, being able to buy local, seasonal produce and enjoy the countryside on the way. Families will appreciate the excellent choice of award winning local schools. Sholden has a well‑regarded primary school, and Deal offers a strong selection of both primary and secondary options, including Warden House, Kingsdown & Ringwould, Goodwin Academy, and Dover Grammar Schools within easy reach. The area has always felt very family‑friendly, with safe streets, green spaces and plenty of activities for children. What we’ve loved most about Hull Place is the sense of calm it provides. The tree‑lined surroundings, the quiet lanes and the gentle countryside backdrop make it feel like a retreat, yet everything, shops, schools, transport, the beach, is close enough to reach in minutes. It’s a location that has offered us privacy, convenience and a wonderful quality of life.

Within easy reach are several highly regarded primary schools, including St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Deal Parochial Church of England Primary School, and The Downs C of E Primary School. For secondary education, Goodwin Academy is conveniently close by. Having this cluster of schools so near has made family life wonderfully simple, with safe walking routes and a strong sense of community. Everyday amenities are equally accessible. Deal’s vibrant town centre offers an excellent selection of independent shops, cafés, restaurants and essential services. The weekly markets, artisan bakeries, and well stocked farm shops in the surrounding villages have been part of our regular routine. Supermarkets, pharmacies and local conveniences are all close at hand, while the seafront, just a short stroll away, provides a beautiful backdrop for morning walks, weekend relaxation or meeting friends at one of the town’s popular beachfront cafés. What we have loved most about this location is its balance: peaceful, green surroundings opposite the park, combined with the practicality of being so close to the station, schools, shops and the beach. It is a place that supports family life, professional life and leisure in equal measure, a setting that has made living in Mill Road truly special.

House with terrace Deal (United Kingdom)

We fell in love with the house the minute we walked into the lovely large living space some 39 years ago and have enjoyed living in this lovely family home ever since. While we have been here we have modernised the whole place including recently updating the bathrooms and kitchen. It will be a real wrench to leave and we will cherish the memories of our time here but we feel it is time to downsize. Kingsdown is a charming fishing village with a golf club, a long seafront, a general store, post office, butcher/deli and three pubs including the dog friendly Zetland Arms as well as the Kings Arms with its speciality nights. You can drive or cycle along the lower road parallel to the seafront to Upper and Lower Walmer with shops and restaurants along the Strand but, being close to the countryside, we have the best of all worlds. The mainline station at Walmer, with its high speed train that can whisk you to London in an hour and 20 minutes, is particularly useful for commuters or if you want a day out in Town. Dover and the Channel Tunnel are within easy reach for a trip to the Continent, while the charming seaside town of Deal is quite close by with its wonderful shops, seafront, eateries and Saturday market. If you feel energetic, the Tides swimming pool complex is not far away while, for golfing aficionadas, as well as the Kingsdown and Walmer golf club, Deal includes the Royal Cinque Ports club but, if you want to go slightly further afield, there is also the championship courses in Sandwich. If sailing is your interest there is the Downs Sailing Club with its clubhouse along the Strand in Walmer. There are a number of good primary schools in the area including the Outstanding Kingsdown and Ringwould and Warden House in Deal, while Dover, Canterbury and Sandwich offer excellent grammar school facilities with top class private schools in Dover, Canterbury and Ramsgate.

House with terrace Canterbury (United Kingdom)

“We moved here 12 years ago and love everything about Stable Stones. We have enjoyed putting our own stamp on the property while still retaining its original character. The location is perfect with countryside all around us, yet only two and a half miles from Canterbury city centre. With only eight properties in this quiet hamlet, we’ve enjoyed the tranquil setting and watching the Spring lambs frolicking around in the nearby field while walking our dog. We’re sure the new owners of Stable Stones will enjoy living here as much as we have. Bridge is a lovely little village with two pubs, one having a Michelin Star restaurant and the renowned Pig Hotel. There is also a small supermarket, a chemist as well as a good primary school, a medical centre, dentist and hairdresser. Bridge is also well located for transport links to London via the motorway network or the High Speed train to St Pancras. “Canterbury is a UNESCO world heritage city and has some beautiful historic buildings plus a variety of high street stores, individual shops and a great selection of pubs and restaurants and is also home to the excellent Marlowe Theatre where we’ve seen many shows”.

House with terrace Westgate-on-Sea (United Kingdom)

This has been a wonderful holiday home for us for the past 10 years. There is nothing better than arriving here on a Friday evening after a busy week and being able to relax and enjoy the views. We are just across the road from steps down to the fantastic Blue Flag West Bay and in the summer months we spend as much time enjoying the beach as possible. During our time here we have update and extended the property to create the amazing home you see today, which is just ready for new owners to walk into and not have to do anything except install their furniture. We also designed it to be very low maintenance and is very much a ‘lock up and go’ house if you want it as a holiday home, but it can equally well be a very special permanent home for a large family revelling in the location. Westgate is a lovely seaside town and the station is within easy walking distance with the fast train to London taking just over an hour and a half. Westgate is also a very friendly community with a village like atmosphere. It has some charming and individual shops including a unique parade of individual canopied shops and cafes as well as an excellent and inexpensive cinema, a golf course and  some very good restaurants in the vicinity including the Michelin recommended Quince. The Blue Flag beaches at West Bay and St Mildreds are wonderful for walking the dogs in the winter and swimming in the summer and, if you enjoy cycling, there are a number of excellent routes including part or all of the 32 mile stretch of coastline from Ramsgate to Reculver via the Viking Coastal Trail. There are also two very good secondary schools in the area as well as a number of well-respected primary schools with grammar and private schools available in Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Canterbury. Road links are very good with access to the Thanet Way for Canterbury and London while, for more in depth retail therapy and entertainment, there is the Westwood Cross shopping centre with its plethora of high street stores and restaurants, casino and bingo hall.

House with terrace Broadstairs (United Kingdom)

What the owner says From the moment we first arrived here, we knew we had found somewhere special. The location has been one of the greatest joys of living here, quiet, elegant, and wonderfully convenient, with everything Broadstairs is loved for just a short stroll away. One of the greatest pleasures has been our proximity to the town centre, only minutes from the doorstep. Broadstairs’ charming high street, with its independent boutiques, artisan cafés, and friendly local businesses, has always felt like an extension of our home. Whether popping out for fresh bread in the morning or enjoying an evening drink, the town has a warmth and character that never fades. Equally delightful is how close we are to the beach. Viking Bay, with its golden sands and sweeping views, has been our go‑to place for morning walks, family days, and those spontaneous sunset moments that make coastal living so magical. The sea air, the sound of the waves, the sense of calm, it’s all just a gentle walk from the house. For commuters or visitors, the train station is conveniently nearby, offering high‑speed links to London. It has made travel effortless, whether for work, weekends away, or welcoming guests. Families will appreciate the excellent selection of schools within easy reach. Broadstairs is known for its strong educational options, and having them so close has always been a real advantage. Living here also means being part of a vibrant and culturally rich community. Broadstairs hosts a wonderful calendar of events throughout the year, and we’ve loved having them right on our doorstep. Folk Week, with its music, dancing, and joyful atmosphere, brings the town alive every summer. Dickens Week celebrates the town’s literary heritage with charm and creativity. The food fairs are a highlight too—showcasing local produce, artisan makers, and the best of Kent’s culinary scene. And of course, the restaurants. Broadstairs is blessed with an exceptional dining scene, from cosy seafront eateries to fine dining experiences. Being able to walk to so many outstanding places has been a luxury in itself. Everyday amenities, supermarkets, pharmacies, cafés, parks, and leisure facilities, are all close by, making life here both effortless and enjoyable. It’s a location that offers the perfect balance: peaceful residential living with the very best of Broadstairs just moments away. After many happy years, we can say with confidence that the location of 19 The Vale has been one of its greatest treasures. It offers not just convenience, but a lifestyle, coastal, cultural, connected, and truly special.

House with terrace Canterbury (United Kingdom)

I really liked the light and airy atmosphere of the house when I first opened the front door and then walking through and seeing the river and the views over to Solly’s that almost seem as though the park was actually in the back garden, I knew this was the place for me. I also like the kitchen because everything is easily to hand as it was originally designed by a previous owner Audrey Eyton – author of the F-plan diet. While when I close the curtains to the conservatory in the evenings, I find the sitting area very warm and cosy. As I thought I would be living here for the foreseeable future, I have had the flat roofs over the conservatory and the kitchen replaced but sadly I am having to move for health reasons. The location is also wonderful as I can stroll to the city centre om just a few minutes and meet friends and family for a coffee or visit the nearby Marlowe theatre without needing to take the car or even get on a bus. At the same time if you want to get to London the fast train from Canterbury West will transport you to St Pancras in under an hour and it is not far from the A2 for Dover and Folkestone for trips to the Continent. As well as the cathedral there are a wide variety of other historic and interesting attractions to see including the Canterbury Norman Castle, St Augustine’s Abbey, Canterbury Heritage Museum, the Westgate, The Beaney House and the Canterbury Roman Museum. The city also has a wide variety of high street stores, individual shops and plenty of restaurants and bars as well as two mainline stations and there is an excellent doctor nearby. The city is also home to two theatres, three universities and numerous state schools, including three excellent grammar schools and a number of private schools.

House with terrace Canterbury (United Kingdom)

What the Owners Say: We purchased this house a few years ago as we thought the location was ideal and, because the front entrance is at first floor level and not at street level, it is very quiet and peaceful. As we moved here during ‘Lockdown’ we had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time creating the amazing property you see today. We thought it would be our ‘forever’ home and designed it with that in mind. Unfortunately business commitments mean we have to move but we hope new owners will enjoy everything this place has to offer, whether as a permanent home or a weekend and holiday retreat. It is a wonderful base for exploring the delights of the city but it is also not far from the surrounding countryside for access to a rural environment for lovely walks or a trip to a country pub. But it is great to be able to stroll down the road to the shops, pubs and eateries as well as meeting friends and family for a coffee or a visit to the theatre without needing to take the car. At the same time if you want to get to London, it is only about a 12 minute walk to Canterbury West station for the fast train to St Pancras that takes less than an hour and it is not far from the A2 for Dover and Folkestone providing trips to the Continent. As well as the cathedral Canterbury has a wide variety of other historic and interesting attractions to see including the Canterbury Norman Castle,  St Augustine’s Abbey, Canterbury Heritage Museum, the Westgate, The Beaney House and the Canterbury Roman Museum. The city also has a wide variety of high street stores, individual shops and plenty of restaurants and bars as well as two mainline stations and various sports clubs including golf and the Kent Country cricket ground. If a beautifully updated and elegant Victorian residence is your idea of a delightful family home, then look no further than this delightful detached property on the outskirts of Herne Bay. Contemporary house with garden and terrace Broadstairs (United Kingdom)

Rising proudly at one of the highest points in Thanet, this historic property is an exquisite coastal home. Originally constructed circa 1906 as one of the earliest residences on the prestigious North Foreland Estate, this remarkable landmark began life as the North Foreland Tea House, later known as the Dutch Tea House, a celebrated coastal retreat where visitors paused for refreshments served by staff in traditional Dutch attire. Its terraces and lawns, open to the sea breeze, once welcomed figures such as Winston Churchill, Vincent Price and Peter Cushing. Today, after a meticulous, full‑scale restoration, the Dutch House stands not only returned to its former splendour but elevated into a masterpiece of contemporary coastal living. What was once a fading relic has been transformed into a beautifully curated family home, sensitively designed for the demands and luxuries of the modern era. Passing through the elegant entrance gate, a charming pathway bordered by a pebbled frontage and raised wildlife pond leads you toward the house. The first glimpse is impressive, but stepping inside reveals the true calibre of this residence. Solid oak floors, generous proportions and a sense of refined craftsmanship set the tone. The superb drawing room, anchored by a multi‑fuel burner, flows effortlessly through panelled folding doors into the sophisticated dining area and the serene study, where a wall of windows frames the side garden. With all doors open, the entire space becomes a magnificent, free‑flowing suite for entertaining, culminating in the enchanting orangery, once an open balcony, now enclosed with full‑length windows overlooking the secluded sunken garden. The contemporary kitchen and breakfast room is a triumph of design: granite worktops, bespoke cabinetry and limestone flooring create a luxurious yet welcoming environment. A range cooker, American fridge‑freezer, dishwasher and even an inset TV ensure every culinary moment is a pleasure. Beyond lies a practical utility room and a delightful family room opening onto a small courtyard with access to an external wet room, perfect for rinsing sandy children or muddy dogs after a day on the beach. A spacious landing leads to the modern family bathroom and three double bedrooms. Two open directly onto a vast wraparound balcony, including the principal suite, complete with fireplace, a sumptuous en‑suite featuring a raised slipper bath and wet‑room shower, and a beautifully appointed dressing room. The balcony flooring and composite railings promise years of maintenance‑free enjoyment of the expansive sea views. Ascend to the top floor for the home’s most breathtaking surprise. Alongside two further double bedrooms and another family bath/shower room lies the spectacular panoramic sitting room, a space wrapped in windows on three sides, offering uninterrupted views from sunrise where you can see France on a good day, to sunset across the North Foreland golf course and lighthouse. A wood‑burning stove and discreet kitchenette with fridge, bar and sink make this an irresistible retreat. Outside, electric gates open to generous parking for four cars and a driveway to the garage, perfectly positioned for potential conversion into a separate annexe or pool house (subject to planning). The rear garden, set below eye level for exceptional privacy, features manicured lawns, a large central terrace for al fresco dining, raised flower beds and a substantial summer house ideal as an outdoor dining room or a stylish teenager’s hideaway. The property also has planning permission for the erection of a three‑storey, four‑bed detached dwelling following the demolition of the existing garage. While this represents a substantial redevelopment space occupied by the garage, there remains the potential for someone to re‑apply for a smaller dwelling or an annexe should a reduced scale be more appropriate for them. You can see the planning application online using the planning application reference F/TH/24/0563.
