DUPLEX APARTMENT ABOVE THE ROOFS OF BESANÇON Located in the heart of Besançon's historic centre, this duplex is set within a period building. It has been completely redesigned by its architect. The redesign prioritises light, spaciousness and generous living areas, offering beautiful views. Every element has been crafted by skilled tradespeople using high-quality materials, with a focus on harmony to create a cohesive whole. The windows frame views of hundreds of Comtois rooftops, notably Vauban's citadel and the River Doubs. The two south-facing open terraces extend the space outwards and complement this architectural style. A HOLISTIC DESIGN DRIVEN BY DETAIL The apartment was designed as a coherent whole, conceived from the outset in terms of its volumes, circulation and materials. Set within the roof structure, they sit set back whilst offering unobstructed views of the city: the quays, the Tour de la Pelote, the Church of La Madeleine, the Citadel and the museum all feature in the landscape. Access is direct from the mezzanine, creating a seamless flow. Two steps connect the terraces, without interrupting the flow of movement. The lines remain understated, the floors mineral, the vegetation discreet. Together, they form a structured outdoor space that is easy to live in. Here, one can dine, garden, or simply relax at different times of the day. An integrated outdoor space, in tune with the rhythm of the city.
